Dr. Heather L. Appelbaum, MD

Dr. Applebaum is such a wonderful and caring doctor. She was able to catch a rare but very serious problem when our four year old had an ovarian cyst that had twisted. The doctor and her team were able to operate right away and with success. She was incredibly kind and understanding throughout the whole ordeal. We are so grateful that our little one was in her hands that day.

I cannot understand the bad reviews Dr. Appelbaum got -They must be talking about a different Dr. Appelbaum! The one we went to was kind, considerate, generous with her time, friendly, knowledgable, put my daughter and us (her parents) completely at ease. We've been to many doctors and she's definitely one of the top - would definitely recommend her!!

Caring and responsible. She removed a polyp -scheduled it for immediate removal. Did a great job. Was senstive and caring throughout. I felt I was in great hands and that she is trust-worthy, caring about my health as much as i was caring about it - and being gentle throughout, caring also for my comfort.

Starting from the moment I walked in I felt like I was in good, caring hands. The secretary was courteous and helpful. The nurse was kind and sweet. Dr. Appelbaum was really nice, patient, gentle, and knowledgable. She really put me at ease. She gave me as much time as I needed to discuss my concerns, and explained everything she was doing and was really sensitive. I was super impressed. I would highly recommend this practice!

Condescending and doesnt answer any questions. You will be sitting in her waiting room for over an hour to be rushed out in five minutes. Only in it for the money. I never got one bill from her because her office kept sending them to a wrong address and now she has me in collection and completely made up the fee I owed her. And ontop of that her office lost my records from my prior gyno and I am supposed to pay to transfer my records to my new doctor. No wonder she left new york to practice elsewhere. Crazy crazy lady and unprofession office AVOID

Dr Heather Applebaum is the best gynecologist ever. So caring, knowledgeable and smart. I am so sorry she is not longer going to be working in New York. If you are lucky enough to live in New Jersey close to her practice make an appointment, you would love her?

Dr Appelbaum is the absolute worst dr. She has horrible bed side manner, she is not attentive and dismissive. I will NOT recommend her. My daughter is traumatized because of her.

After reading the reviews, I was worried going into the appointment. My previous gyro visit went horrible so I was counting on adding another one to that list. However, when discussing birth control she was very understanding and prescribed a higher hormone level pill which should help me a lot with managing my heavy periods. I return in 3 months to discuss if the pills are effective and if I’d like to receive an IUD. Very friendly and simple today

I have been going to Dr. Appelbaum since I was 15 and now 20. She is amazing, however the staff is a tad rude sometimes but it is because they are very busy. But giving 5 stars because Dr. A herself is very knowledgeable, serious yet personable and caring. Everyone who makes bad reviews doesn’t truly know her. I call her a lifesaver who helped me not suffer from pain anymore.

About a year ago my just turned 10 years old started getting her menstruation. It was very painful and would last 2 weeks at a time. Dr. Applebaum was recommended and I was able to get a rushed appointment at her Commack office. Dr. Applebaum asked my daughter a few questions then instructed her to get undress and put on a gown and wait. After about 10 minutes Dr. Applebaum returned and told my daughter to get on the exam table and to place her feet in the stirrups. I had to quickly explained to my daughter what to do and expect because we were not advised this was going to be a vaginal exam. My daughter was scared and embarrassed and kept her legs together. Dr. Applebaum because verbally abusive and demanded to know "why are you ashamed? who is touching you there?" She stared at my daughter for an answer and when my daughter didn't say anything Dr. Applebaum only communicated to her assistant for the duration of the exam. I cannot express how helpless and hurt I felt for myself and my… child. Dr. Applebaum showed no respect or compassion to my 10 year old. My daughter was brutalized right before my eyes. During our hour and a half drive back to Queens my daughter closed her eyes and didn't speak. When we arrived home, she went to her bed and hid under her blanket. We have nothing but regret for selecting Dr. Applebaum. She is a horrid person and not fit to examine human being.
