Dr. Heather Michele Esquivel, MD

It's a rarity that I leave a review, but the appointment I just had was so disappointing; maybe it will save someone else time. I'm not sure how a doctor can really listen, when they are interrupting you and cutting you off. I don't think she's a bad doctor, but she definitely isn't one that cares about you or listens and I honestly believe that can seriously cost you.

Like the other honest reviews, Dr Esquivel takes things personally and gets very defensive when she hears things she doesn't like. She will outright lie and attack you when you point out that she's wrong and her advice is dangerous.

I like Dr Esquivel in that she is very knowledgable and takes her work very seriously and she genuinely cares about her patients. That is very evident to me. What I think she could work on is to be friendly and not take things personally. When I met her she walked in and never introducted herself. She didn't smile. She wasn't cordial. She is very serious and I think she could be more personable. She is sensitive to a patient medically though. But I also don't like that there isn't good communication with her staff. They aren't given info to help those calling in. I feel she expects her patients to do all of the communicating and she could reach out more to communicate so there is greater understanding. I feel she also can take things personally and be defensive if she doesn't like something. But she is also sensitive and is forgiving and cooperative. I believe if she considered those things personally and equipped her staff with more information, I think she'd be a near perfect Dr. I… like her a lot and respect her very much as a Dr.

My very elderly mother has been using Dr Heather and I highly recommend her. She's extremely knowledgable, does her homework, highly responsible to respond to medical needs. This has been my experience. She's on the serious side but don't let that put you off. She does her job very effectively and by the book.

My main problem is getting the nurse to call me back and I have 2 pharmacists so the nurse forgets to call my medicine into the pharmacists in Columbia. She always calls in to the Spartanburg pharmacists. I have had to wait up tp avweek for her to call me back when I call to see why my medicine wasn't called into the pharmacist in Columbia.

I have seen Dr.E for years now, and I really am comfortable with her. She takes her time and listens to you. She really tries helping you with your issues and resolving them. I can't imagine anyone having negative things to say about her? I drive 40 minutes since she moved just to see her because she is a great doctor. She gets to the bottom of things and works hard to make sure you are taken care of. My only issue has been with the nurse, it is hard to get them to set up appointments for tests, you have to continue to remind them, they rarely call you back, etc. This new call center is a pain. The nurse she used before was awesome and always on top of things, the new one, not so much.

I have seen Dr Esquivel for years now. I think she is a very good doctor, well spoken and helpful. She always listens and advises me. She is never pushy or rude. I was shocked at some of the other reviews. My complaints are with other things, while they are all very nice, sometimes it can take up to a week to hear back from a nurse. Also since they have started expanding and opening new offices, the doctors are spread thin, so getting an appointment is more difficult since your usual doctor is only in the local office 1-2 days a week. And, I hate calling in, because they now use a call center, so its a big maze to get to who you need to really speak with. However, again, Dr Esquivel has been a great doctor, and the doctors I have seen in her place when she was not there for sudden illnesses, etc were also really nice doctors.

Nice young lady. Clean and curtious. Asks alot of health related questions and seemed very knowledgable about numbers and ranges of blood pressure, hormone ranges and test types for diseases and conditions.

could not get staff to answer phone after weeks of trying by phone I had to actually go to office to set up appointments. I was not the only complaining I could not get appt by phone others were there to scheldule too. Have also been told can't make follow up appointments in advance have to call back two weeks before needed appt. And hope a time available. Doctor flips like a coin from nice to horribly rude and unprofessional. My specialists requested my file as did my insurance for preapproval and neither could get a response. The office is nice sometimes but are often more involved with their personal affairs then the patients. All I hear when I'm there is complaints. Long waits, rude staff, not listening etc. The cut their office hours, never no what doctor if any will be there when u get there. This office and doctor has went down in service. They do speak Spanish which is helpful in this area. However I must change doctor soon because I am disabled and require better care then I… currently receive from regensis. And no I don't receive or request narcotics from that office.
