Dr. Heather Rae Herbolsheimer, DO

I had to have surgery due to sexual trauma where she was my surgeon. She made me feel bad for being tender and completely dismissed my pain. After the surgery, I was in an indescribable amount of pain for 7 days with constant bleeding and an infection. I was told to keep taking ibuprofen. Went in early for a post op where there was gauze still left inside me. It was completely covered up and I was lied to. At my last post op, I asked her about the gauze and she still deflected the question. She was rough during exams of my surgery sight that was still painful and would repeatedly say “I’m barley even touching you!” I left every appointment in tears. Absolutely no bedside manner, especially for this sensitive situation. As a healthcare provider, if a patient tells you they’re in pain, you respect that. Not make them feel bad or embarrassed about it. I will forever be traumatized by this experience and will never be returning.

Dr. Herbolsheimer is the best OB/GYN out there, there's no question. I have delivered 3 healthy babies and she always respected my wishes and put my children and I first. I always look forward to seeing her at my appointments because she's always happy and super nice and extremely knowlegeable and I trust her. I have been to other doctors and would never think to go anywhere else. I read the other reviews and don't think they accurately portray the staff/office but even if they aren't nice, the doctor is the person you should be concerned about. I would rather have an amazing doctor and angry staff than have a nice receptionist with a bad doctor. When my last child was born Dr. Herbolsheimer squeezed all of the cord blood into the baby and it was such a peaceful delivery as she gracefully handed me my newborn. You can tell she delivers a lot of babies which is comforting. Awesome bed side manners, and I highly recommended her. I just googled her to contact her regarding my now 4th… pregnancy, and saw these reviews and felt it only right for me to finally get the word out and acknowledge just how blessed I truly have felt to discovered them. Look no further, you and your baby deserve the best care out there.

I went to Dr. Herbolsheimer for heavy bleeding with my periods. I felt great after talking to her, but she never examined me and instead ordered a biopsy. Then, when the biopsy was clear, she ordered an ultrasound. That showed thickened uterine lining, so she recommended a d&C. Again, I was told this by her very rude nurse, Sue. I hesitated to come back to the office, but came to talk to the Dr. About the procedure. It was then scheduled with no regard for my schedule. When I had to cancel due to other things happening in my family, I was scolded by Sue and told that I needed to put myself first. As a mom, this was completely offensive. When I called to ask questions about re-scheduling, again they scheduled me without my permission. I then ended up in the ER with a tennis ball sized ovarian cyst. Good old Sue told me it wasn't a big deal and that I didn't need to see the doctor. She said my d&C and ablation was scheduled and the doctor would see me then. I said I hadn't… decided on the ablation and I wasn't sure. She said well, you've already had your consult, so that's what the doctor is doing. Excuse me? Don't I have the right to refuse a procedure if I don't want it? Last time I checked, this was my body. Again, I think the doctor is probably great. However, every encounter I've had with her office staff has left me questioning my decision to see this doctor. I am looking for a new one.

I used this office for my second pregnancy & I had a good experience. Coming back the have my third child I was expecting the same experience & did not receive it. I have had more troubles this time around & it seems the Doctor has trust issues with the patients. I started calling the office on Friday due to some pregnancy issues I was having & on Tues finally got some relief. I left work early so I could get the medicine I needed and take care of the problem. I asked for a Doctor's note for work & they would not give it to me because they said that I could have taken the medicine in the evening & not the afternoon even though I called the nurse to let her know when I took it & asked her when I should take the next one. They seem to care less. Very upsetting! This is the second time I had to fight with them to get a Doctor's note for work. If you work & your job is important to you then this would not be the office for you. I am looking at a new Doctor now who has been highly… recommended & still delivers at Good Shepherd Hospital.

This review is more about the office staff than the doctor. They are always very rude on the phone and often times just hang up before I'm even done with the conversation. I am ready to switch doctors for the specific reason of this office staff!

It was my first pregnancy, and I trusted that Dr. Herbolsheimer had my and my babies' best interests in mind. I went through IVF and was pregnant with twins. I was high risk just by being pregnant with twins, but also was at risk for an incompetent cervix due to two prior LEEP surgeries. Nine weeks in, I experienced heavy bleeding, went to the ER, and was told I was miscarrying. Turned out I wasn't, but that my placenta was not flat, but pulled away from the wall. I bled for over 3 months. Dr. Herbolsheimer released me to normal activity including exercising and intercourse. I didn't do any of that because of how sick I was. The doctor did not do a serclage and later said they were not done "just in case." I gave birth at 26 weeks to my girls, I had a bulging bag. One of my girls passed away 25 days later. When it came time for me to go back to work, the doctor would not give me a waiver for a mandatory fitness test that I was supposed to take 12 weeks after my C section… (classic incision). The fitness test involved sit ups, push ups, and running/walking. Bottom line: the cause of death of my daughter was unknown, my other daughter endured over 2 months in the NICU, and it may have been prevented if Dr. Herbolsheimer cared a little more about my babies and me. Incidentally, I had an appointment with a doctor who trained Dr. Herbolshemer, and he did not understand why she did what she did.

I have been living with pain for years. After several undiagnosed trips to the ER, Dr. Herbolshimer got to the bottom of my health issues. I took my mom with me to my appointment to listen and ask questions about Dr. Herbolshimer's treatment plan for me. In no time, my mom was crying happy tears and told the doctor how she was so happy to have such a confident, intelligent, caring and well spoken doctor taking care of me. After I had major surgery done by Dr. Herbolshimer my mom, husband and I can't thank Dr. Herbolshimer enough for all she has done to rectify my health issue. Dr. Herbolshimer is a true professional!

Dr. Herbolsheimer is the most professional, kind and attentive OB GYN I've ever had. I've had serious issues with excessive bleeding and abnormal menstrual cycles, and she was able to diagnose the issue in two visits. I feel like she's the first doctor to ever take me seriously, and I would recommend her to anyone I know.

Dr. Herbolsheimer is the best gyne doctor I've ever had. I had gone to 3 specialists previously within the last 5 years and all of them misdiagnosed me and I was being treated for a medical condition I didn't even have. I had gone for 3 endoscopy procedures and I never went a day without discomfort or pain. I didn't even see Dr. Herbolsheimer for my current medical problems, only for birth control. Dr. Herbolsheimer diagnosed me within 2 visits, ran lab tests to confirm her diagnosis, scheduled my surgery and now I am symptom free. I am so thankful that she diagnosed me correctly. Thank you Dr. Herbolsheimer. I will forever be grateful
