Dr. Heather Emmaapril Hume, MD

I had Dr. Hume as the MFM for my first pregnancy and she has been helping me at the beginning of my now, third. I am naturally anxious, and each time I felt like she just "got" me. She always gave me the right amount of information about my concerns, and I always felt fully heard. Whenever I asked for her opinion about a test or how to move forward, she was direct and empathetic. I was impressed with her 4 years ago with my son and just as much, if not more so, today. Highly recommend.

Dr. Hume is the MFM at the OB practice I go to. She has been very thorough with my ultrasounds, and when she was concerned about something, she referred me quickly to a specialist. I was even more impressed by her responsiveness. I had follow-up questions the day after my exam, and when I requested a call, she called me back very quickly, even though she was out of town. She reassured me that my questions weren't a burden and assuaged my fears about my scans. I have felt very lucky to be her patient.

One of the best doctors I've ever met. I felt so cared for during my high risk pregnancy. She really went the extra mile for me. Really cares for her patients, and has a great balance of practicality and safety in her approach. Doctors like her are a rarity today. I would 100% recommend her to friends and family.

I am so happy to have found dr Hume! Once I became pregnant for the first (and was terrified) I made an appointment at Mt Sinai. I was informed that I am a high risk patient and would be transferred her department. I was assigned Dr. Hume and immediately felt more at ease. She explained how everything would go and always answered my 100s of questions. I feel like she is never pushy with extra tests and gives great recommendations. Whenever I had a scare she was there to check things out or answer emails and phone calls ASAP. As soon as I became pregnant the second time i emailed her right away. She did my first sonogram to check the babies viability and was teary eyed (tears of joy) and remembered my first sons name! My second pregnancy was also high risk, and I had a choice to do a treatment during it to avoid preterm labor, when I was worried about possible side effects she broke it down for me and told me the pros and cons and gave me time to think about it. She is very warm and… caring and was there for me whenever I need her, even while being pregnant herself and due not too long after me! She was there for my delivery and about a week later gave me a call to see how I was doing. We still keep in touch and share baby stories. I highly recommend her because during pregnancy you need a doctor who you feel comfortable and who is warm and gives you the right medical advice and Dr Hume will definitely do that!

When I got pregnant with my daughter I was very concerned because it was a high risk pregnancy, but Dr Hume with her care made everything better. She showed us love and personal interest. At the end everything went fine.

I ended up w Dr. Hume because her colleague who I was supposed to see had an emergency. I was thinking of switching from my then OB because I had a special situation with my pregnancy that the OB I was seeing had unnecessarily upset me by painting some pretty graphic worst case scenarios that the specialist sonogram team informed me were quite rare and with proper monitoring highly avoidable. I told this to Dr. Hume and even as she herself was quite pregnant, she pretty much repeated the behavior of the OB I was seeking to leave except that she used latin terms, which I fully understood and pressed on me so hard during the sonogram that I was in pain and sore the next day -- the team at Lenox Hill MFM never made me feel so bad! However, at the end of the day, even though I had a terrible sleepless night after seeing Dr. Hume, I ultimately found the most amazing doctor and had she not been so rough on me, I might have settled with the Mt. Sinai team. So, I guess I should thank her. … But I do think she has much to learn about not scaring people unnecessarily or she should perhaps go into a different line of work.

Dr Hume was professional and pleasant. They were so wonderful to squeeze me in for an appointment at the last minute.

I had an Ultrasound that confirmed that I had a miscarriage, and Dr. Hume was the doctor in the facility> After the ultrasound, she appeared at the door, and from there while I was half naked and laying said 'I am sorry' and I had to connect the dots between I was pregnant to I am not anymore. Then she provided vague information about next steps. I find that that way of communication is utterly unprofessional. 1st someone should have said, get dressed sit down, 2nd she should have introduced herself, 3rd make an interpretation of the results and finally is she is sorry ok, but there are other steps before! It is not professional I was in a weak moment, and I received from someone I did not know pity from the door instead of information and reassurance.

Dr. Hume should not be allowed anywhere near pregnant women or those giving birth. Throughout my pregnancy, she was cold, dismissive, bullying, and threatening. At one point, when I was expressing reservations about something, she sarcastically said, "I am just trying to keep you from having a stillbirth," as if that were my intention. She gave me a medication without checking my medical history, and I subsequently had severe side effects. Her awful attitude and callousness makes her unfit to be a doctor.
