Dr. Helena Rodbard, MD

I have been seeing Dr. Rodbard for at least 5 years now. She s the best in her field, especially since I had encountered two nasty doctors before her. She makes me want to keep my blood sugars down. She helps when life gets tough and is very understanding. Just seeing her is a breath of fresh air.

This office has an extremely long wait time, for a practice that only has two doctors and no one ever waiting in the waiting room. Dr. Rodbard has a friendly demeanor at first but gives a diagnosis that is not followed by any actual instructions or explanations. One would think that a physician would want to explain in latent terms what is wrong to a patient, but I guess not.

Her office gave me an appointment to establish a second opinion about condition of diabetes. The secretary rescinded the appointment after I complained about the exorbitant fee of $500 and that the office didn’t accept any insurance. I was told that Dr Rodbard didn’t think that I would be a suitable patient for their practice. I was told that Dr Rodbard could not speak directly to me. I had Met Dr Rodbard socially previous to my request for the appointment and I thought we could easily establish a professional rapport. This review has nothing to do regarding her competence as a physician but it has everything to do with her presumed holier than thou attitude and her business model regarding fees

I saw Dr. Rodbard several years ago. She provided me with a diagnosis, but did not explain how or why she came to this conclusion. When I attempted to press her for details, I was blown off. She provided me with a prescription and sent me on my way. When I spoke with her next and questioned whether the treatment was working, she said that I should have been doing several other things; these things were never discussed with me at all. I decided to find another doctor.

She is a fairly typical conventional endocrinologist, if that is what you're looking for. Not really open to complementary techniques.
