Dr. Henry J Blum, MD

Dr Henry Blum is a great knowledgeable doctor. Diagnosed right on target, and experienced.

I visited Dr. Blum for an issue with my hip. It basically boiled down to a bone spur in my hip. Not a huge deal but incredibly painful and chronic. I went in for my MRI results and it was exactly as the previous xray had shown, a bone spur. As I sat on his table he walked in and told me what it was while handing me the MRI report. He then proceeds to tell me there is no surgical solution to my ailment. I know this to be untrue already due to the amount of research I have already done. But, I choose to give him the benefit of the doubt because he is the doctor and I continue to listen to him. He then tells me the only possible solution is for me to be referred to another doctor will give me a cortisone shot that may or may not dissolve the bone spur up to 30% (if I am lucky). Then he is says if it does dissolve the bone spur I can be given another shot that once again if I am lucky will dissolve maybe to 50%. If this isn't a fix then why would you even suggest it? I then begin tearing… up because all I am hearing is that I won't be fixed. I ask him very directly "so are you telling me that there is a possibility I am just stuck like this?". He proceeds to shrug his shoulders and say very bluntly "yep its a possibility". He then briefly mentions the possibility of looking in to ultrasound to dissolve it as he ushers me out of the door. I left that office in tears! Never in my life have I been treated like that. I contacted another surgeon and already I am beginning the process of surgical solution for my ailment. Might I also add that it will be a very simply surgical solution with very little down time. Basically he lied to me. I used to use Dr. Kent over there and I just adored him. I could not get in to him this go around so I used Dr. Blum instead. Never again! I will never use UT Physicians ever again. That bridge has been burnt. I will also make sure anyone I know thinking about using Dr. Blum is warned of how they could potentially be treated.

Great surgeon, great surgery, great hospital, great staff. I have recommended him to others. He so well repaired my shattered left arm in 2002, he was my only choice to replace my right hip in 2010.

Brilliant doctor. Explains things clearly. Busy, Sometimes hard to contact Nursing Staff. Overall Excellent.

Waiting close to two hours to see the physician is disturbing.

Dr. Blum did my partial knee replacement. My recovery has been great and gone exactly as he said it would. He listens, always answers all my questions, and addresses my concerns. His staff is wonderful, especially Tonia. My calls were always returned promptly. The hospital and staff were attentive and professional. If and when my other knee has problems I will be seeing Dr. Blum. I recommend him every chance I get.

I highly recommend Dr Blum! He performed both of my complete knee replacements five years ago and they are great. My pain was very intense and Dr Blum tried other measures before my surgeries . The staff is awesome and very helpful! I think Dr Blum is very informative and thorough with his diagnosis and surgeries. He also has great bedside manners in the hospital as well as takes the time to answer my questions. I have sent several friends to him. My husband will be seeing him for an issue. (Not sure why there are negative comments about Dr Blum on this site as I strongly disagree ! If you have knee issues this is the doctor for you. :)

I beleive this Dr. works quitley with the insurance and pain mangement Dr so they can just put you back to Work , without proper diagnosis !
