Dr Rice and his team saved our four day old son’s life in 2015. Our son had a rare condition called Intestinal Malrotation and Volvulus. Dr Rice acted very quickly, professionally and had great bedside manners. We are forever grateful and thankful for him and his team at Duke Children’s for our thriving boy who is now three.

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Rice. He is an amazing pediatric surgeon. My family & got to know him almost 15 yrs ago when he and his team operated on my daughter at Duke and gave her the opportunity for a normal life. She was born with a rare condition called esophageal atresia (she was born without an esophagus) and he made one for her by using part of her stomach. At one year old, she had a hiatal hernia and Dr. Rice was also involved in her exploratory surgery and repair for this problem. He followed up with her care for many years & she has done extremely well. Today we are back at Duke facing another surgery for a bowel obstruction and I am extremely thankful Dr. Rice is still here and will be involved with this surgery as well. I wouldn't have it any other way. He is the best.

I am so grateful to him. He removed my gallbladder due to gallstones & before surgery he reassured me that everything was going to be fine, he's such an amazing Doctor. I highly recommend Dr. Rice. You'll be in great hands!

If you are looking for an excellent pediatric surgeon, Dr. Rice is the best!!! I will always be grateful for his saving my grandson's life. Even after surgery, he continually follows-up each case...if you have questions, his nurse, Marianne, is always willing to get your questions answered in a timely manner. Dr. Henry Rice and Duke Hospital are the greatest!!!
