I had seen 2 other kidney doctors before seeing Dr. Kawanishi. He was very complete, explained everything, and found what was wrong. I’m so glad was able to see him. Highly recommended

Unfeeling

Not only did he fail to do a thorough medical history, he never took the time to fully understand what the issue was. (After two visits, he still didn't understand.) Any time I would try to explain, he would cut me off, mock me, and tell me nothing was wrong. I'd say, but I still can't X (the issue), and he'd say essentially "not my problem". He then lectured me on how I was supposed to treat his office staff, when they had misinformed me that cost me hours of time that I didn't have to waste (with no apology from them). It was clear from the second I stepped into the office that he did not care if he helped me or not--I was wasting his time (though I was paying him for it). In two appointments, he spent a total of 12 minutes talking to me. That kind of arrogance and dismissive tendency towards his patient's concerns makes him a very bad doctor, one who will likely misdiagnose issues which will lead to bad outcomes. I would stay very, very far away from him.

Went for my appointment today, but forgot my wallet with my "new" health insurance information. Receptionist was on the phone. I signed in and waited, mean while calling my wife to get the health card information. My wife found it. The receptionist heard all of this. Another male worker told her I was next and waiting. Instead, she rose and went over to help "check-out" another patient--which was the male employee's job. Again, the male told her he could get the patient checked out, and that I had been waiting for some time. She said to him, "I know," and went on helping the second check-out patient. The she came back to the desk--without saying a word to me. Other's came to register, and the male worker asked politely if I could step aside and let them register. I did politely. Then, the receptionist went out front to talk to two waiting patients. The male employee asked me if I had been helped. I told him , "No. Obviously the receptionist is ignoring me. I told him I would leave and… never return. Altogether, I waited 22 minutes--my wife on the phone--and the receptionist never said any word to me. A nurse asked me to come back to a room, but I told her I needed to give my new healthcare information to the receptionist. Kawanishi is a very good doctor, but one needs to get past the receptionist's attitude.

I learned more about my kidney problem in the first visit than the prior 2 years with my previous kidney Doctor. I wish I had seen him long ago.

Excellent doc. Tells you want you need to know not what you want to hear. Explains things in a way you can understand and why you are doing what you are doing. Wouldn't want to see anyone else.

Wors doctor I have ever had. He doesn't even care enough to spend more than 30 seconds with his patients. Stay away.
