Dr. Hilma M Yu, MD

Sadly I waited 2 hrs for this provider without an explanation or an apology for the lateness. I called to say I’d be 5 min late so make that make sense. I’ve never met such a dismissive and rude Dr. she has no business taking care of people even less vulnerable women who come in for a reason. I asked for my hormones to be tested because I am experiencing some stuff she said it would be pointless because hormones change and they can’t be tracked while the change. So why do other drs do ask for hormonal tests to treat any imbalances? Wow! Adding insult to injury she focused on my weight instead of my symptoms. She was rude and I will never go back to her. I’m disappointed as NYU has a prestigious group of professional who should treat people as people. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT GO TO HER! If you already have an appointment and you waited longer than 30 min ask to cancel and see an actual professional. Unsure how she still has a license. Sadly I didn’t check reviews before going.

This is my first time visit and I haven't read any of her reviews. It would be expected that a doctor maintains professionalism and are caring and exhibit signs of kindness. I was wrong. Dr. Yu is rude and is not friendly. Her bedside manner is lacking. Her character was dismissive and didn't take the time to listen to my needs. I think she will really need to work on her communication skills to make patients feel at ease and valued. I am expressing my deepest regrets that such doctor exists and with great disappointments that she is practicing in the medical field. It is truly the most negative experience with Dr. Yu and I mean it with my deepest upmost desire for anyone to avoid these kinds of doctors such as Dr. Yu. I hope she drops out of practice because she is not worthy to be called a doctor. I have not met a doctor this disrespectful. Additionally I honored my appointment and she did not. I waited over one hour which is unreasonable. AVOID! CANCEL HER! TERRIBLE DOCTOR!

I was referred to Dr.Yu by my godmother who had treated her for a particular condition and has recovered well since then. Because of her exceptional experience, she was confident that Dr. Yu would be able to resolve my own issue as well which has been a persistent, chronic issue that has at times been debilitating. Since day 1, I got the impression she's very knowledgeable and also gave me the reinsurance that things will get better. She's replied promptly to all my messages and once replied during the night to inform me that she could squeeze me into an appointment so she could evaluate me in person. It's hard to find a physician who truly cares these days and I have to say I'm so glad Dr. Yu is in my life!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Crying from visit!!! Teen Daughter’s visit to gynecologist, BAD. Doctor Yu was rude and brusque with Zero bedside manner. My daughter came away upset, scared of her own body and sad. Teen daughter said she'd give Dr. Yu another try (maybe she had a bad day). Second visit ended with her crying in the exam room and for a good 15 minutes after. Dr. Yu was condescending, rude, and Mean. When my daughter asked her to explain, Dr. Yu told her that she would not understand. Dr. Yu did not explain what she was doing at any point, just did things without informing her. When my daughter told her that she had questions and concerns, Dr. Yu was downright mean and said that she was still talking - WHILE WALKING OUT THE DOOR. Dr. Yu also complained that my daughter's bladder was too big and told her not to drink water 4-hours before bed. Every other doctor she has tells her to drink more water. I got a retired ob/gyn on the phone after and he said to ignore those instructions.

If I could give Dr. Yu 10 stars I would. She is the best GYN doctor ever. She is smart, attentive, compassionate, explains everything in detail, makes you feels comfortable and at ease. Always goes the extra mile to insure that you get the best treatment possible. Dr Yu has helped me throughout the past couple of years and I’ve never felt better. Thank you Dr. Yu for your compassion and hard work. I am so grateful to have such a wonderful Doctor!!

I have been seeing Dr. Yu for over 20 years. She was my obstetrician for the last two of my three pregnancies and has remained my GYN ever since. Dr. Yu is one of the most compassionate, professional, dedicated, and caring physicians I have encountered. Dr. Yu really takes time to explain the procedures and results. Dr. Yu takes the time to address any concerns and sees the patient as a whole person.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Took my teen daughter for her first gynecologist visit - she had recently started menstruation. Doctor Yu was rude and brusque. My daughter came away feeling insecure about her own body, upset and sad. Will not go back to her ever.

She is not professional, not caring, made me feel terrible about not remembering when was my last pap smear test. She said "Get it together". Honestly, I will never go back to her!

I am so grateful to have Dr. Yu as my physician. She has spent time with me at my visits without rushing, she has reviewed everything with me in detail and she also returns phone calls. I find her caring and compassionate and dedicated to her profession !! I highly recommend her !! xoxo

Dr. Yu is an excellent doctor she spent so much time with me. I never felt rushed, and she explained every procedure/treatment beforehand. She listened to and answered all my questions. I left her office feeling very confident that I was in good hands! I highly recommend Dr. Yu.
