Dr. Hinsing Steven Choi, MD

Dr. Choi has been my doctor for 23 years and even when we moved an hour away, we preferred to continue to see him. He is thorough, follows up, explains everything,; most importantly, he listens and talks to us as equals. He or his staff reply to My Chart messages promptly. I have never felt rushed. And he does not hesitate to suggest getting a specialist's opinion when needed. An all-around excellent doctor.

I have been a patient of his for many years. He is also the Dr. for my parents, who are being well cared for by this excellent and compassionate physician. This dedicated Dr. even called us at home, over the weekend to deliver lab results. My parents are not easy cases by any means but are doing very well with their multiple issues. His office is always busy so you may not get the appointment time you prefer but a good Dr is worth the wait. As for a comment I read from someone else who wanted info about their parent in another state....haven't you ever heard of patient confidentiality? Sentara mychart , which Dr. Choi uses, (and if your parents allowed you legal access), would have been all you needed. Don't blame someone for your lack of access to info that is private between the patient and their Dr.

My parents are older and have seen Dr. Choi for over 15 years. They have both had some serious medical issues in the past few weeks involving hospitalization in another state and when I called last week with 3 URGENT requests to speak with Dr. Choi, I get no response for days. I had a similar bad experience earlier in the year on another issue and spoke with the office manager about the lack of initiative on their part and thought that would help, but it hasn't and I find this behavior unexceptable and unprofessional from a health care provider. I would not recommend him for anyone in my family.

He is very rude and disrespectful. He doesn't spend enough time with patients to get their history. He is always ready to push you out the door. He has a huge ego and puts down other doctors in front of the patient when he (dr choi)has failed to come up with a correct diagnosis.

Dr. Choi has been my family doctor for the last 20 years. We love his service and his staff. Dr. Choi will go the extra mile for you.
