Dr. Hiram Jeffery Whitaker, MD

I left Dr. Whitaker's office in tears this morning. TEARS. He came into the room with an air of entitlement. He never asked me my story (my wrist injury is complex with 2 existing surgeries), acted as if he knew everything based on what he read, and at one point tried to blame his confusion on me until his scribe corrected him. Didn't ask about symptoms or give me a chance to say anything. No care or concern, no bedside manner. "I know you have a lot of questions right now but I can't answer them until you've had your MRI." 1) He didn't ask if I had questions. That was his statement. 2) I didn't express that I had any. He talked down to me as if I was unaware of what was going on inside my hand. My fingers are numb because of extensive swelling, not because of carpal tunnel as he painfully tried to prove by digging his thumb into my wrist. Condescending about the previous repair he saw on xray. I have seen 3 other surgeons for my hand over the years and I have NEVER been treated this… awful by physician. As a nurse, I expected far more. I'll be switching to one of his colleagues and filing a complaint. If I could leave 0 stars I would.

I saw Dr Whitaker 2 times and had test done between appointments. We (myself & my nurse wife) decided the low percentage of possible success did not warrant risk of surgery. I appreciated his honesty and caring manner. He was friendly, did a exam of my hands, elbows & shoulders. I then had testing of the nerves involved for knowledge of what was involved.

I really like Dr. Whittaker he explains everything in detailtells you the dos and don't, makes you feel at ease

VERY ARROGANT & CONDESCENDING!

Dr. Whitaker is an excellent surgeon He has operated on me several times I would go to none other surgeon than Dr. Whitaker. He has wit, character' and does not rush you out of his office. He has enormous patients with you. My rating for Dr. Whitaker is excellent!

At my second appointment for my wrist pain, I was still having trouble. The doctor recommended an MRI to try and localize what was causing it. I expressed my concern that I have had a very high deductible and I could not afford to have the MRI done. He immediately became angry and started sarcastically saying that I can't expect to fix the problem without having the MRI. He then advised that I could just try therapy, which is painfu, and just see if that works. Then he decided "Well I guess you don't want to do that either since you'll have to pay money for that as well." He handed me a paper a said I guess you can try these exercises at home. I've never been more embarrassed in my life. This was the first and only discussion i have ever had about money in any reguard and he treated me like crap. I have filled a formal complaint with the Ortho Indy location.

Dr. Whitaker did an Ulnar nerve transposition that went very well and relieved my pain.

dr mess up the nerves in my left hand and arm now i am unable to use them also didnt call me back for a return visit bad experience

He released me knowing I was in horrible shape because the workmans compensation insurance pushed him to get me out of there a Dr. that would even consider doing that to a patient is a horrible Dr. and he left me in worse shape than I started after his recommended surgery he said I would have a good chance at continuing my career but it ended my career I recommend you switch doctors if you are his patient on a workmans compensation claim I'm sure he's a great doctor when he's not a puppet

I had an ulnar nerve transposition and through the symptoms and diagnosis, Dr. Whitaker was the BEST. He is VERY well versed in his field. I just can't say enough good about him!!!
