I believe you have two different doctors in one review panel. Dr. Howard J Hochster is an Internist in the Bronx, NY. Dr. Howard S Hochster is a Medical Oncologist in New Brunswick, NJ. Dr. Howard J Hochster (in the Bronx), is a very caring and respectful physician. He is Loved by all his patients. He takes his time to know his patients and offer them the best care possible.

Do NOT go see this doctor if you are looking for someone that is compassionate and treats people with respect. This man has a God-complex the size of Mars and thinks he’s the most important person in the room at all times, not the patients paying his salary. His pompous attitude and downright utter disrespect for those around him call into question how he ever went into medicine in the first place, because it clearly wasn’t because of his winning personality and desire to help others. Do yourself a favor and go see a doctor that actually cares if you get better and won’t treat you like you’re a waste of time. Extremely berating and rude.

I see some bad reviews on Doc. However, i feel many of these poorly rated reviews are seriously wrong. This doctor is hands down the best. He has been taking care of my family as well as many generations in my family. He literally has my entire blood line as his patients. There was a time where I thought i was Ill and could not shake this feeling off. The doctor reassured me different ways to help me while not turning to prescriptions as the first escape. It’s not that he doesn’t know what he’s doing, it’s simply that he is so well knowledgeable and has a range of knowledge in different areas and aspects of the medical field so if he says something to you I would definitely take his word. Yes the wait time may vary, but if you’re in need of a doctor like him, the wait is WORTH IT. He’s a private and convinenet doctor and the staff are incredible. I never ever had a bad experience - not even frustration of time wait wasn’t even one of them. He’s amazing, reliable, intelligent, and… caring! We’re rooting for you Doctor Hochster! Keep on serving your community and being the best that you can be!

I had pain and no matter how much I wanted him to examine me, he would not get off his chair with the excuse that the pain was all in my mind. No doctor should ever assume that its just "nerves." Completely unprofessional, to say the least.

Dr. Höchster treated my late husband in his last illness. He was unfailingly INHUMAN, UNSYMPATHETIC and UNRESPONSIVE to our needs. when my husband was in his last few days, he berated me for turning to our caring and responsive primary care physician.

I think that when you are seeing a doctor who has an international reputation and is truly brilliant in his field, you really can't rate him on promptness; he is spending time in research to truly improve the the science of gastrointestinal cancer, serving on committees and mentoring physicians who one day hope to follow in his footsteps. For me, he was perfect. He knew more about my illness and how it should be treated than I believe any other physician in the nation. Yes, I waited in the waiting room for a long time; but this was my life at stake; I didn't care. If you want to be seen by a physician as soon as you walk in; see someone who graduated medical school a day ago. If you want to be seen by a true master of his field; who is also kind and compassionate , he's your doc.

my mom went to him he was a very good dr very caring and kind. I liked him and his staff!
