Dr. Howard Tung, MD

I'm the mid 1990s I had a back fusion surgery by another doctor. It didn't pan out very well. A year or so later Dr. Tung corrected the surgery and did a marvelous job. I am still doing very well after almost 30 year later!! Bravo!!

Free of sciatica pain!

He is not one of those doctors who try to talk you into a surgery if you don't really need one. He gives you time to heal and try other therapies. If you have sciatica that is caused by a back problem that has been going on for a long time, you should go see him. Maybe just one visit then you will have a better idea what you should do. I went to see other neurosurgeons for mt back issue before I saw Dr. Tung, everyone just wants to cut me open!!! Dr. Tung followed up with me monthly for another 6 months and I threw in the white towel and asked for a surgery because mt sciatica just hurt too bad. He also agreed that I have waited long enough. Now I'm living my normal life about to head out to exercise. How can you not love his surgeon?

I had a cervical disk surgery with Dr. Tung about 11 years ago and it was a very positive experience. I was able to go home in less than 24 hours and never even had to take a pain pill after my surgery. He was the kindest doctor I ever had and was a great listener which makes me think he knows that people know their own body. I highly recommend him as a surgeon.

4 years ago I developed back pain and he recommended fusion, based on my MRI. I refused. I have seen 4 more neurologists and orthopedics surgeons since then and they smiled, when they heard about his recommendation. They even did not recommend a surgery.

It is very important to be able to trust a doctor. I completely without a doubt, trust Dr. Tung and his opinions. I have seen him do amazing things for my husband and myself. I highly reccomend him to family, friends, and to those I don't know, who are looking for the very best care! He knows his stuff!!! I'm so blessed to have a neuro surgeon I can depend on! Simply the BEST!

Glad to have found this Dr. He literally saved my life. I have been mishandled by soo many Dr.'s I had almost given up hope.

I was diagnosed with advanced degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, and spinal arthritis by this doctor. I WAS NOT diagnosed with leg pain in my left leg but I had it once a year prior to my visit for nearly 30 seconds, never again.I chose to have an operation done by him (can't remember the name) which he said, "could (key word) alleviate some of my back pain".I had the operation and his visit time in the hospital was minimal and blunt! He actually scoffed at my pain level exclaiming, "oh, come on. It's not that bad" I was floored. He also said he could not keep me in recovery for more than 3 days. I've never felt anything as painful as this in my life. He also found a fractured vertebrae which was never seen in any MRI...???I decided to go see another doctor after his brutal treatment of me and this doctor told me that the operation I had was in no way designed to alleviate back pain. Rather, leg pain. User be weary!!!

This doctor did an operation on my mother, but he did it wrong. He told us he would take out 50 to 60% of the tumor near the brain. Instead he took out 90% which left my mom handicap. I am really disappointed in his work, This happend back in 1994 but i still am taking care of my mom who is terminally ill because of this man surgery. I hope they take his licenses away because you should never do something different than what you tell a patient. Specially in a brain opperation. I have forgave him but will never forget because i have to see mom everyday and take care of her. If anyone is going to get surgery please get a third and forth opinion and make sure the communication between you and your doctor is clear. Surprises are not always good.
