I, and a few others I know, have had the misfortunate experiences to seek treatment from this internist and gastroenterologist, over a time span of approximately twenty-years. In my personal experiences, during merely a couple visits. At a time when this patient was suffering principally serious, quite simple to understand symptoms, resulting from a recently traumatic event; indeed, an undoubtedly competent, caring, and compassionate general practitioner would have truly been medically necessary. Instead, I found a much younger version of Howard M. Weintraub, M.D. At each visit, he behaved apathetically(if I could sense any human emotion at all, it perhaps may have been closer to a slight degree of improper amusement at me and my circumstances) and his performance and treatment effected no actual help in my particular case, other than to try and benefit by pressuring this patient, who had been in clearly desperate need of a basically competent and a compassionate physician,… towards nonsensical mental and cardiac treatments. So terribly obvious back then, and since then in retrospect, he had hoped to abuse the opportunity so as to earn points, and possibly undue monetary gain, via irrelevant tests and useless referrals. Now, he is still practicing at the same location. I thankfully have done just fine without heeding any of his medically unnecessary treatments, or lack thereof, which he evidently attempted to use for his own ulterior motives. Whether his actions were based on greed or not, the one factor which was most unfavorably impressive had been his total lack of humanity. Aside from other unprofessional conduct, he spent plentiful time causing patients to wait, while he conferred on his office phone regarding unimportant personal matters, even mentioning the sexual implication "Yeah, I know you're waiting for my tongue...". I'm not afraid to assert the fact that I, and others who accompanied me on my final visit, had empirically observed some chief administrators of that health center just lining up and instructing him of specifics expected to be written for them and for others on his prescription pad for controlled medications. When they, also, said no date on this one and no names on that one, he pleasantly obliged their requests. However, when I requested just a bit of assistance to help in managing through a highly traumatic time, as well as many pertinent responsibilities, he replied with mild laughter and in a very confident tone "I'm not willing to do that....I don't have to help you, and that's the bottom line". I, further, must indicate my disappointment, embarrassment, and apologies to two others, whom I hadn't cautioned soon enough. I learned that a relative and a friend, in more recent years following my prior experiences, were referred to his care, due to his so-called "expertise" in gastroenterology. My relative had this field of surgery performed, and the removal of intestines, causing necessity to wear a permanent ostomy pouch. Dr. Weintraub appeared to possess no significant knowledge in basic gastroenterology, as he abruptly and inconsiderately tore the adhesive from the ostomy pouch, which left my relative with mildly abraded skin at the site, and the frightening and unhygienic predicament of having no replacement ostomy pouch to replace the one he had removed. Now, Howard M. Weintraub, M.D. is considerably older; though, it's a legitimate question and concern on whether his additional years of experience will prove him to be any kind of physician that is deserving of patient's faith and trust with their or their loved one's medical care. I definitely could not possibly trust in Dr. Howard M. Weintraub, M.D., ever again.
