I sought Dr Deen for a 2nd opinion, after one of the best Dr.s in Tampa pushed for an emergency surgery ACDF with metal plates on 3 discs and there would be a 2nd surgery for a 4th disc. He was only to be kept overnight and wear a metal brace for 6 months. We forwarded scans and had a video appointment due to Covid with Dr Deen. We were relieved he could operate on all 4 discs at once and said he didn't believe metal plates were needed. This surgery is called a laminectomy. I was able to stay with my husband in his room 24/7 following surgery. They kept him for 5 days. The entire experience was 5 stars. Everything was explained very well except for his recovery took longer than we expected. We are 5 months out and we have learned how to speed things up. Heat, and care from a licensed massage therapist sto stretched muscle cramps and improve posture to support his head. We did have a video follow up we can not say enough good things about our experience at Mayo and the care we got… from the whole team and Dr Deen. I recommend him to our friends now. Please keep in mind the pressures of working in medicine during Covid and staff shortages. Appreciating staff and good communication go a long way.

I have spent 4 months dealing with Dr Deen and the Mayo Clinic trying to get answers and relief with still no treatment plan. I drove 620 miles one way for my last appointment with Dr Deen only to spend less than 5 minutes in his office with him rushing through the appointment and literally pushing me out of the office without answering my questions or concerns. The communication and scheduling is basically non-existent. Dealing with Dr Deen and the Mayo Clinic has been the worst experience of my life dealing with a medical provider.

Dr.Deen did acdf surgery on me in 2011 and my life has been horrible. the pain has never stopped since the day I left the hospital. Never got a call or any concern from him ,staff or the mayo clinic itself.
