Dr. Igor Matthew Cherches, MD

I saw Dr. Cherches in May of 2018 after suffering a seizure on a flight from Denver to Houston. His forthright manner and direct answers put me at ease immediately. He explained what had caused the seizure and prescribed a medication that has kept me seizure free ever since. Then there is his staff...Beatrice, Karen and the rest of his team are welcoming and supportive. If you need a neurologist, Dr. Cherches should be your first choice.

I am so fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Cherches. It took several weeks to get an appointment but, definitely worth the wait. I didn’t have to schedule a second appointment to have electrical studies. They were done on the initial visit. After a detailed history, he already had a preliminary diagnosis. I have had Systemic Lupus and taken steroids for 30 years. The steroids destroyed my hips. I have bilateral hip replacements. During my second replacement, they damaged the sciatic nerve and I have had chronic pain for 19 years. The reason for my visit was unrelenting burning pain in my lower legs and feet. My diagnosis CIDP (polyneuropathy). Last week, I had an electroacupuncture stimulator device applied to my ear. I wore it for a week. During that time, I had my FIRST PAIN RELIEF in all these years. I am elated! I will forever be indebted for his compassion and expertise. HE IS SECOND TO NONE!!!

Knows my complicated medical history, listens, and has sent me to successful physical therapy when I didn't realize I had a problem. Personable and professional.

I went to see doctor Cherches over a month ago, he gave a prescription that needed approval from the insurance I talked to two staff members from dr Cherches office who were very rude and not helpful at all I called my insurance and they told me the prescription is covered I called again to let the doctor staff know what I was told and they told me it would be a 15 dollar charge to submit it again I said fine.....Still waiting two weeks later. it’s been a month since I saw the doctor Cherches is very nice and friendly but the two ladies that answer the phone have horrible customer skills. They just don’t care

If I could leave 0 stars I would. My first visit with Dr. Cherches was very pleasant. I explained to him in detail the fact that I am highly allergic to several migraine medications and that due to the fact that I have gone into anaphylactic shock with one medication in particular I am fearful of trying medicines. He prescribed me 2 medications and unfortunately neither of them worked. I gave his office a call back to see if I could try something else and they said they would call me something in. THANKFULLY my pharmacist noticed I am allergic to the medication that was called in for me was the same medication I had an anaphylactic reaction to. This time it was a nasal spray so could have been even more harmful to me than when I took it orally and went into anaphylactic shock. NEGLEGENT. TOO BUSY TO CHECK A CHART TO VERIFY ALLERGIES. When I called them to let them know they were not apologetic or even seemed to care that what could have happened to me. DO NOT VISIT THIS OFFICE!

Dr. Cherches is a wonderful neurologist. He diagnosed me with a rare movement disorder after seeing many other doctor's that could not figure out what was wrong. He was able to work with me on managing my symptoms and basically gave me my life back. I could not be happier. The office staff always works with me on scheduling appointments around my schedule. Call-backs are made in a timely manner. Dr. Cherches allows me to make informed decisions about my care with him. He listens and explains things about my disorder so that I can understand better what is going on with my body. I could not thank him enough. I would recommend and have recommended him to my family and friends.

I have been seeing Dr. Cherches for 12 years for MS and find him to be very receptive and helpful. He never makes me feel rushed when I have questions. The office staff are very nice and he is always on time (or early) for appointments. Highly recommended.

We like Dr.Cherchs. We went to him three years ago for my husband.he so nice and was straight to the point which that is what i like. Will be going back next month to see him. I just wis he had an office in baytown but for now we will go to houston. Well worth it.

Dr. Cherches spends time with his patients, listens to their concerns and asks appropriate questions to lead to his diagnosis. He also encourages details that will aid in determining his diagnosis. I have found him to be very compassionate and respectful, and he has a wonderful bedside manner. My only concern is that most of the time his front desk conveys test results and occasionally mispronounces words, which leads one to feel they might not understand what they are conveying, and that something can be missed in providing important details to the patients. Otherwise they are very courteous, friendly and helpful. The ease in setting up MRIs and CTs is fantastic. They follow up with every aspect of the diagnostic testing. One critique (helpful suggestion) is that if there is a finding on a report that needs follow up (tumor, negative test results, or questionable lab reports) either the doctor, nurse or nurse practitioner should convey the news, as any medical questions cannot be… answered by the front desk staff. Also, the only other complaint was that there was no follow up when a diagnosis was made and the patient was requested to see a specialist for additional diagnostics. It would be highly beneficial for someone on staff to follow up in a week to see how the patient is doing. Otherwise you feel like you're being dropped like a hot potato when there is a problem diagnosis and additional medical testing/specialty diagnosis required. Otherwise, the staff and medical team are excellent.

I started seeing Dr Cherches over 10 years ago. Before him I saw many well renowned doctors in Houston TX. He has saved me. I have had ms for twenty years. I don't just call dr Cherches my doctor, he's family.
