Dr. Ira Mitchell Jaffe, DO

My delivery was marred by the disgusting bedside manner and actions of Dr. Ira Jaffe. During my delivery the nurses warned my husband and I to be quiet because Dr. Jaffe doesn't like noise - which is an absolutely ridiculous to request from laboring woman. As the baby began to crown, Dr. Jaffe suggested the use of forceps to speed up the process. When I closed my eyes prior to him getting the necessary tools, he began yelling at me. He improperly used the forceps, instead of assisting the baby out while I pushed, he ripped the baby from my body. Whilst he was pulling the baby from inside of me, my legs began to tense up - Dr. Jaffe reacted to this by hitting me multiple times on my chest and continued to yell at me. Once the baby was born, Dr. Jaffe began to stitch me up, refusing lidocaine from the nurse. I begged him to please numb me, once again he refused. Due to the amount of pain I was in, my bottom kept lifting from the table, Dr. Jaffe pushed me down and said "This is your… vagina I am working with here, I'm sure you will want you use it again one day." The amount of embarrassment I felt in that moment is unimaginable. Dr. Ira Jaffe and his obscene practices have traumatized me, and has spoiled the memory I have of the birth of my first baby.

Dr. Jaffe is absolutely wonderful. He cared for me through a difficult and scary situation, going above and beyond to answer all of my questions (there were many over a two month period), patiently listening to all of my concerns, reassuring me while providing realistic assessments of potential risks and understandable but detailed explanations. The level of care and empathy I experienced under his care is truly unparalleled and I will be forever grateful to him and the staff at Rosh Maternal. Everyone I interacted with was awesome. The wait at Madison was occasionally a bit on the longer side, but totally worth it for the level of care I experienced each and every time.

Absolutely fantastic doctor. Very professional, and knowledgeable. Takes his time to go over any concerns and overall makes you feel very comfortable and taken care of.

He waited so long to do a C-Section (after 40 hours of labor) that I got an infection and was hospitlized for 5 days with 4 types of IV antibiotics. Baby whent to ICU. It was terrible. If only he had informed me of his belief that he waits FOREVER and then some to do C-Sections!

I just can't say enough good things about Dr. Jaffe. I've been his patient for over many years and have recommended his services to all of my friends and family

Dr. Jaffe delivered my son. I was in the hospital for five days and he always visit me. He was prompt at returning my phone calls. He might not appear to be nice at first, but he is really caring. Great surgeon! I didn't show a scar after 3 weeks.

After seeing so many good reviews I was excited to meet him but was quite disappointed. He made rude comments about my childbearing abilities. No one should have to listen to that, especially from a doctor who is supposed to be delivering your child.

Dr. Jaffe told us he considers himself a midwife. With that said, he helped us have a successful vbac at NYU. He was very smart and skilled in managing potential high risk issues while balancing our desire to have a natural non or low-intervention birth in a hospital setting. He was very competent, caring, a good listener, available, and I felt like he made decisions based on what was in my best interest. I could not recommend him more.

I just did a search in hopes that Dr. Jaffe had returned to the upstate area as I doubt I will ever find another OB/GYN as great. Miss him and his office staff. He guided me through 9 1/2 month of pregnancy and was terrific throughout the birth of my son. He is missed.

Dr. Jaffe was wonderful. My recovery period was very painless. I return to normal routine early. He's a gentle and caring individual. Before the surgery he came to see me and reasssured both my husband and I that everything will be fine. He also stayed and went over questions with me prior to the surgery. I would recommend him to anyone in need of a caring obgyn. We need more caring doctors like him around. The staff was great.. they even took a a picture of our baby boy when we came to visit and just knew how to make us feel like we were family.
