Dr. Isaac Yang, MD

I had a condition called "Superior Semi-circular Canal Dehiscence Syndrome (SSCD)" on both sides of my head. The left side was more problematic than the right. This disease plagued me since my early teens but worsen over time. In 2014, I went to seek medical treatment at a well known hospital but was told by the doctors there that no such treatment exist to cure my disease and that I had to live with it. Surgery was absolutely the last resort and not recommended. This was not what I wanted to hear. Those words shattered my hope of a cure and for a normal life. That moment was the lowest point in my life. Those doctors really do not understand the disease, so course, they will tell you there is no cure. I refused to give up and researched online and found my saviors! Both Dr. Isaac Yang and Dr. Quinton Gopen at UCLA gave me hope and a new leaf in life. Both of them understand the disease very well and cured me. They performed a New Minimally Invasive Surgical Procedure on my left… side of my head in 2015 and it was a success. I trusted them and they delivered!! 2020 and enjoying life without the symptoms. Thank you Dr. Yang and Dr. Gopen!!

Dr. Yang is a great communicator of what the problem is and how he would recommend fixing it as well as a very compassionate individual. He was very respectful and showed clear honesty when dealing with my situation. Dr. Yang is a great surgeon, I trust his recommendations and experienced his expertise in surgery. I agree with a few others however that post surgery he is busy dealing with the UCLA medical school and other patients that will benefit like I did from his expertise - but this is when his "attention" to the patient is clearly distracted most of the time. I do believe he cares but his list is long and he must spend the bulk of his time with patients that don't know what is coming versus those that are "fixed". I would go to him again because I need his focus on what will resolve the problem and getting it done - not how much time he spends with me after - as long as my care is monitored properly and I can get back to life !

We went to Dr. Yang for my father's brain tumor. Dr. Yang was communicative and caring. A much better experience than what we had with Cedar Sinai. He didn't hit my father over the head with a death sentence as Cedars did, he didn't deliver a cancer prognosis without first speaking with the rest of the family. He was very respectful of our wishes, and showed the utmost care in dealing with the situation. Being humane and having bedside manner is still an important thing to have and Dr. Yang has it. I'm only sorry we weren't able to use him for the brain surgery since my father's condition rapidly deteriorated and he passed away.

I met him for a second opinion and he took the time to explain to me the details and his recommendation. I was very pleased with him and if I needed surgery I would come to him.

Great personality unless you catch him on a busy, tiresome day then you will noticed a difference in attentiveness. Makes a great "sell" for surgery and follows through with expertise. Follow up is lacking with seemingly little interest in long term outcome of surgery. Mainly hold his neuro ENT teammate responsible for lack of follow up or follow through, but if you are going to approach a rare disease as a team you should probably have a vested interest in seeing that one or the other follow through completely. Especially when coming across as leading experts in this disease. There is absolutely no follow through or testing with this. Traveled clear across US from one coast to the other for trusted care. Kind of disappointed.

Dr Yang spent a lot of time with us and made us feel comfortable with explanations

He seems to like using patients as research tools for his body of work. Patient care is very secondary. His staff is atrocious! Go ahead and try to call that office!! They could care less about you. I think he is better suited as a researcher. Knowledgeable guy but patient care is not his priority. Watch for unnecessary and overly frequent procedures/tests. He's at UCLA now where research is king. You deserve better.

Dr. Yang did a great surgery for my brain tumor and he got it all out. He really cared for me and my family like his own and was an exceptional surgeon treating us
