Very good experience

Dr. Schwarz went above and beyond to explain what's going on with my back, to listen to my concerns, and to answer my questions. If I could rate him "8" out of "5" on this chart, I would. I really appreciated his expertise and that he treated me as a real person with a real problem (and not just as another appointment). It was a 4 hour drive each way for me and I will do it again in a heartbeat for such professionalism.

Dr Schwartz listens and explains things in a manner that is easy to understand.

Without wasting his time with pesky details like history of present illness, review of symptoms, or physical exam, Dr. Schwarz walked in and said, 'Your films look fine, but if you are worried about your scar I can send you to a plastic surgeon.' Taken aback, I said, 'I am not worried about my scar. I am here because I have an inadequately treated hardware-associated delayed surgical site infection (CoNS and C.acnes) with retained cervical hardware, as well as a CT last month showing opacification in the left mastoid in a patient with a recent history of inadequately treated hardware-associated cranial osteomyelitis.' He repeated, ' Well, your scar looks fine, but I can send you to a plastic surgeon if you want.' I am a physician, a patient, and a patient advocate, and I obviously should have heeded all the one star reviews. Learn from my mistake.

Vanderbilt staff was great, Dr Schwarz I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

I was referred to Jacob Schwarz by my local Orthopedic Surgeon and after a 4 hour round trip to Nashville, in pain from a back injury, Jacob Schwarz had no clue who sent me, why I was referred and showed little concern about my condition. He made no effort to locate my records sent by my referring physician only that they were not in my record where he expected them to be. I would not recommend Jacob Schwarz.

Dr. Schwarz has been my dr. for yrs. I would not trust my spine to anyone else. he has fused my c-spine, my t-spine, and my l-spine (multiple times) before going to a new dr. I always do my info-search on them. he passed with excellent in all reviews, schools, class standings. I had visited (4) other drs. After meeting and talking over my case the 1st time I told him (he was the right one baby like own the Ray Charles Pepsi Comm.) And I highly recommend him to anyone. He's not in it for the money, he truly loves his job, that means so much to know someone with such a caring heart. He is one of the Lords angels walking down here with us. I worked with a lot of drs. and Dr. Schwarz you top them all. Thank you.

Was seen by this Dr. for a second opinion on a herniated disc that I've been in excruciating pain for months, after steroid shots, block injection that lasted about a week, pt, medications and the pain is still horrible!!! After telling me surgery not practical for this type of injury he made it seem as if i had a slight headache. He did recommend more pt. That's it. The main question i had was what to do about being in pain when trying to work and his answer was maybe i should find a different job. My job is not strenuous!!!!! This was very inconsiderate and rude! I was shocked and never offered to take off work..nothing rushed out without anything else to say. I drove 2 1/2 hrs for nothing but more pain!!!!!!!!! maybe i should find a different

I wasn't sure if I liked or disliked Dr. Schwarz 3 years ago when I was referred to him for the pain I was having in my thoracic spine only because he seemed to me that he was saying that he didn't believe the pain I was experiencing was as bad as I said it was. I soon realized that he wasn't saying that at all, what he really was saying is that he wanted to get the pain under control by using a pain management center because surgery on a thoracic shouldn't be performed unless there are no other choices and it is a do or die situation. I have since went to him for pain in my neck in which he sent me for an MRI that showed damage in my cervical spine that needs to be fixed to get rid of the pain because pain medicine doesn't work on it anymore. I would recommend Dr. Schwarz to anyone as he is a doctor that will attend to the problem you have without just covering it up with medicine. I am so glad I stayed with him instead of going with my first feelings which were wrong.

Dr. Schwarz has a warm and comforting demeanor. He tried everything possible to avoid performing surgery. He sent me to physical therapy and then epidural injections which was about a six week process in itself. When still no relief from constant, excrutiating pain, he finally agreed to perform the surgery. He was very hesitant to do so because I had small children and he was concerned that it would be too difficult for me to care for them while recovering from surgery. It was obvious to me that he really cared about my overall well-being. Dr. Schwarz performs surgeries weekly and operates from more than one facility, yet he treats each visit as though I am his only patient. I am very confident that anyone who is treated by Dr. Schwarz will be amazed at how concerned and attentive such a busy surgeon can be. Amazing care!
