Dr. Jacquelyn Michelle Means, MD

I waited over a year to write this review. I had Dr Means as my OBGYN for yearly exams in 2019. Once I became pregnant it made sense to continue care with her. She was young but seemed knowledgeable and experienced. My baby girl is over 1 now and my complications from delivery are more noticeable than ever. My labor was long… too long. Dr Means was off the night I went into labor but insisted on delivering my baby instead of the on call physician. I was pushing for 4 hours… she finally got an ultrasound because she thought my baby was breach since it was taking so long. She said “nope, she’s just really big, keep pushing”. I was exhausted but just wanted her out safely. The next thing I knew the NICU was in there and Dr Means was using forceps and vacuum to get her out. I was never asked for consent. It just happened. Multiple attempts and it didn’t work. Finally she used forceps again and got my baby girl out. Once my baby’s apgar scores were normal NICU left. The nurse informed Dr… Means that my blood pressure was dangerously high. She said “she’s fine”. Throughout my stay at the hospital my blood pressure was close to 200/100. Normally in 116/76. They discharged me anyways. The nurse caring for me even refused to take my blood pressure before discharge and said “no I’m worried it will be high and you won’t get discharged so I’ll keep the blood pressure from this morning” After being home for a few days I had to call her office due to headaches and abnormally high blood pressure (200/98) she finally diagnosed me with postpartum eclampsia and sent a prescription to my pharmacy. To say the least my stay at medical city plano and care with Dr means was terrible. I tore COMPLETELY from front to back. No wonder my blood pressure was high! Dr Means said “2nd degree tear” so her record would look good but that wasn’t the case. I still have urinary and fecal incontinence today, and to say it’s embarrassing as a healthy 33 year old…. Understatement. I always have to be close to a bathroom. Nothing works right. Instead of doing a Csection, which should have been done, she tore me open to get my baby girl out. It was midnight, I’m sure surgery wasn’t ideal, but man. If only I had a csection I would have a better quality of life today. This isn’t normal and it shouldn’t have happened. I cried at my first postpartum appt. told her what happened. She said she as proud how she sewed me up and kissed her fingers as if I was a masterpiece she created. Trying to make a horrible situation sound normal is a complete lack of empathy to start. Go somewhere else. Someone who has more experience. If only the on call doc was able to see me

Totally professional, friendly, informative and very personable. Takes very good care of her patients and is very concerned about their outcome. She calmed my fears at the first appointment and throughout my entire treatment. She got down to business on the first visit. She saved my life in surgery. She has an amazing team to support her as well. I highly recommend Dr. Means to ANYONE that is looking for a great doctor to treat them.
