Dr. James Williams Adkins, MD

Prior to my appointment, I read the scathing reviews here and was a bit hesitant. But since this was a referral, I stuck with it rather than go through the wait to get another doctor and appointment elsewhere. I'm very glad I did. I had NONE of the bad experiences others mentioned. The front desk was prompt, courteous, and friendly. The lobby, the office, the bathroom, and the examination room were all very clean. The doctor -- while a soft-spoken man -- took plenty of time to explain my condition, what causes it, how to avoid it in the future. He explained the medication he was prescribing. Questions I had were answered thoroughly. He made sure to have me schedule a follow-up to be sure the condition cleared. Oh yeah.... and there was nothing "creepy" about Dr. Atkins. This was an overall great experience -- well, as great as any trip to the doctor can be -- and I would recommend this doctor. Just goes to show you that sometimes you just have to experience things for yourself.

Totally agree with all of the worst things written about him...He is "creepy indeed". When you do ask questions he gives a sneering, condescending look. If you are looking for compassion care, don't even bother here. I took my 84 year old Dad with dementia to him for bloody nose issues. When Dad did speak he completely ignored him and said nothing to even show he was listening. Worst moment...Dad told him that he couldn't open his mouth wide because he had a cancerous tumor removed from his jaw. His response "Nothing" Dad repeated it and Dr. said "yes" and kept stick something in his mouth. when I asked for a diagnoses he shrugged, sneered and said..."I didn't see anything weird in there" and showed us to the door and out. This guy is a schmuck!

Quite possibly the worst experience I have ever had with any professional, much less a doctor.

I am speechless after this appointment!! He never introduced himself, asked me why I was there, or any questions. He proceeded to jerk my head around looking in my ears, then began sticking huge tubes of cotton and tubes up my nose. He left me sitting like that for several minutes after leaving the room. When he came back, I asked him for a diagnosis, whereby he said there is nothing wrong with me. He then opened the door signaling for me to follow him to the reception area where he out stretched his arms in a gesture for me to pay. This after having an earache for 2 months. This man is extremely creepy and has no business being in the medical profession where he should be a caring individual there to help people. Worst experience in 40 years of medical care! Do you due diligence, unlike me, who picked him out of the phone book! Don't waste your money, time, and jeopardize your health!

called to get a copy of my medical records and even though my hours at work are the same as their office hours they were inflexible and refused to mail the request to me for my own records and then encouraged me to go elsewhere. Extremely rude and horrible to deal with. Avoid at all costs.

I called the doctor's office and tried to make an appointment. They asked what kind of insurance I had. I told them medicare and Aetna secondary. They said that they had not heard of the type of Aetna plan that I had. I said that there was no worry, they will get paid. They then asked me to call Aetna to make sure I was covered. I told them that I would call another doctor that didn't require all this work. I did call another doctor and got an appointment with no hassle.
