Dr. James Wallentine Blotter, MD

Dr. Blotter was recommended to repair a sagging eyelid that was affecting my eye sight. We waited for over one hour in a his waiting room. No one came in to explain why. When Dr. Blotter came in my wife asked him if he was behind. He said "NO". I told him we had been waiting for over an hour. He did not apologize or give us any reason. He was very arrogant and unprofessional. He even asked my wife to go to the pharmacy and get some medication he could use during the operation. . He operated and corrected one eyelid but did a poor job on the other one. Now I have to have it repaired by a plastic surgeon. I would not recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Blotter said I was neurotic and had psychosomatic symptoms when I was concerned about increasing symptoms of thyroid dysfunction and stylohoid process after seeing results of tests he ordered. Within one week of banning me from contacting his office for help again for six months, a better doctor diagnosed papillary thyroid cancer and successfully removed the thyroid gland surgically. Blotter was rude and dismissive. I've never had this kind of interaction with any other doctor. Thankfully the better doctor also stitched my incision beautifully for little scarring compared to the massive scars I've seen on Blotter's patients after his surgeries.

I'm rating Dr. Blotter based on the wait time to see him. I got to the appointment and asked what the wait time would be. I was told there were 3 people ahead of us. We waited 30 minutes and went up and asked how long it would be. We were told again there were 3 people ahead of us. We rescheduled because I couldn't wait all day. We came back a few weeks later and ended up waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes before we were seen. His nurse and Dr. Blotter didn't seem to think it was a big deal for us to have been waiting that long. They were all smiles. After waiting that long, I wasn't in the best of moods. Dr. Blotter does take his time with each patient but I would much rather have a doctor that used my time more wisely. I talked to the management about the long wait time about a year before (we were there for someone else) and they said they would take my comments to heart. Nothing has changed. I would go back to Dr. Blotter only if I had an emergency. It all seems pretty dysfunctional and… the mood in the waiting room is pretty bad. He is a good doctor but what you have to go through to see him- just make sure it's worth it.

I am a patient of Dr. Blotter's. He is a fabulous doctor who is very proactive and gets to the root of the problem. However, every single time I have had an appointment with him, I have waited in the waiting room for at LEAST 50 minutes before I finally got called back and then waited another 20 minutes before he finally comes in to see me. By the time I leave my appointments, I have been there for 2+ hours. The staff never acknowledges that they have kept patients waiting. As stated above, Dr. Blotter is a terrific doctor but the overall environment of the office and his staff is extremely unprofessional.

Dr. Blotter is the entire package. He is extremely competent and thorough in his skills as a doctor. He also has a very caring and concerned bedside manner.
