Dr. James Byassee, PhD

I tried for so long to find a therapist I could trust and found it in Dr. Byassee. He has worked - and I mean worked - tirelessly and patiently to help me for a year now. And things are looking better for me. I am not given to hyperbole and am hard to impress, but I can say he has amazed me with his perfect balance of compassion, professionalism, and humanity. He goes to great lengths to help his clients, and he knows what he is doing. I am very grateful to have found a therapist I can trust.

After several sessions I was able to see how Dr. Byassee was helping me. He provides a positive environment while remaining professional and offering gentle guidance when appropriate. Psychotherapy takes time and commitment. I'm thankful that I got out of my own way and stuck with him. Sessions will start within 5-10 minutes of the scheduled time. He will go over the allotted time if a client is in crisis. I found his report preparation to be detailed and thorough if not immediate. His level of expertise is rare and beneficial.

Dr Jim has been a wonderful influence and supporter of our years long journey with a suicidal, depressed, anxious teenager. His gentle manner and humor have been a terrific fit for his method of therapy. Our son recovered from severe depression and anxiety due to Dr Jim's gentle and positive guidance. We cannot say enough positive things about his provider!

I have taken my son to Dr. Byassee since he was 4 yrs old. My son has Asperger's Syndrome, OCD. Dr. Byassee has been very beneficial to us and I'm grateful for his help over the last 12 years. I especially appreciate his experience working with Durham Public schools.

He spoke with my daughter after we terminated and I rxpressedly said not to. she told him erroneous information and we haven not spoken since.By talkin gto her or letting her call him I lost a daughter. She knows she was wrong and will not speak to me. He destroyed a mother duahter relationship by talking to her when expressedly told not to. That is underhanded and unethical and against the law. He destroyed what was left of a mother -daughter relationship and refuses to do anything to rectify it. He could call her and say I don't know where you got your information but I'll l be it was wrong and you should talk to her before talking to me about any concerns you have with her. she is not my client and I cannot talk to you. You need to talk to her I will bet she is hopping mad at your contracting me. it is not done and she knows it.
