Dr. James Gordon Lieber

I don't like leaving reviews. Each person's experience is "their" experience with someone else and not all personalities connect the same. I've been a patient of Dr. Lieber for many years. After seeing several negative comments I wanted to speak up and say that those who are expecting to be nurtured and sweet talked into taking their health seriously probably won't be satisfied. He's not that kind of doctor. He is the kind of doctor that you can be completely honest with about your habits and fears.... and he will give you a completely honest and direct answer without any shaming or judgement. He is also extremely intelligent and keeps current. I've often wondered if he's genius or on a spectrum (in a good way). Bedside manner is great, but I'd rather have smart and frankness any day. I also realized he had a quality that many highly intelligent doctors are missing. He was not offended when I was direct with him. If i disagreed or was very direct about what type of treatment I needed… for a health issue he listened and didn't just dismiss me like I was a stupid patient with no right to assume I knew what I needed. He even seemed to respect that I was straight forward. He likes directness too. I've come to respect him very much. Instead of seeing him as a cold person, I try to think of ways to get a smile out of him. He deserves that after putting up with me. lol

Dr Leiber has been a great Dr. and the front office staff has always been very friendly.

He is careless , he wouldn't do anything to help a patient. waste of time!

DO NOT WANT TO GIVE EVEN ONE STAR, BUT CAN'T CONTINUE WITHOUT GIVING ONE. I went searching for a new PCP. I did read his reviews before seeing him and they are all awful! I was desperate to get a thyroid prescription filled and blood work done. I also wanted to check my A1C (mom and sister diabetic); This person who calls himself a Dr. (and should not, Shame on You! He never examined me even knowing I am a breast cancer survivor) is a Robot. He never examined me and sat on a chair playing with his computer the entire time while repeating time and time again "....and what else can I do for you today?" If I heard that one more time I was going to scream. I had a full blood panel done along with the A1C test and was told I would get the results back the next day, which was Fri. 5-days passed an no call. I ended up calling the eve of the 5th day and the staff was their same old rude selves. His medical assistant after listening to my legitimate complaints said "Do you want your results or… not?" Wow! She proceeded to tell me that my A1C showed pre-diabetic (6.7) and again, they probably never would have called me had I not called. She refused to send me my blood work stating that everything else was fine, but that I would have to drive to them to get a copy of my results. I just about told her where she could put it. 20 min later the Robot Dr. called back and basically told me that if I did not return to him he would not call him my thyroid prescription. He was blackmailing me. I said I would, having no intention of every stepping foot in their door again. He also said he would call in my prescription and mail me my bllod work results. He did call in the script, and did mail me the CD which I assume had my blood results on it. I guess I will never know, since the CD came to me cracked. I called and left a voice mail message asking for a paper copy. Hmmmm, stay tuned.

I have enjoyed going to his office for many years. However, I am switching immediately because very poor handling of insurance coding by the billing department and rude staff. Don't schedule a preventative check-up with them because they will bill you for a regular visit (not fully covered by my insurance) and then refuse to admit they were in error even after verifying that's what you scheduled!

Either he doesn't care or what. I don't get it but its a waste of time to go and sit in front of someone who will not look at you or listen to you or god forbid help his patients with their health issues!

If this is internal Dr. im the prince of LA. Never pay attention to by lab results, ignore my 15 LB weight lose that i really didn't need ,takes weeks to refill a prescription etc. Just find another DR.

Dr. Lieber has no interest in his patients, no compassion, no bedside manner. He truly should consider doing something else for a living. His staff is fairly incompetent as well.

Came to him looking for a new PCP, looking elsewhere after one visit. While professional he lacked updated information regarding hypothyroidism and rather condescendingly corrected me on a point that he was wrong on. He also had a general attitude of "get whatever stupid comment you have to get out done with so I can write you a prescription and get out of here". Maybe I caught him on a bad day but it was bad enough not to give him a second chance. Would give him two stars but overall the visit was quick and efficient but seriously lacked attention that is commonly found at other practices.

Dr. Lieber would constantly interrupt me before I could fully explain my problem. He seems to sit there and wait for an opportunity to contradict what I am saying. Many times his contradiction would be a result of not listening to the whole story so his answer wasn't relevant to the issue. If I happen to be suggesting a course of treatment he would ignore me rather than explain why it would or would not work. For example I have herniated disks in my neck, as a result I get headaches and chest pain from a pinched nerve. At least that was my analysis. Instead of explaining whether that could be possible he would simply ignore my statements. This is one frustrating doctor to deal with.
