Dr. James Durston Homans, MD

Dr. Homans completed a combined Medicine/Pediatrics Residency Program in 1992, and subsequently an Infectious Disease Fellowship in 1994, at Los Angeles County + University of Southern California Medical Center. Dr. Homans is board-certified in Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, and Infectious Disease. He has worked in the Pediatric Infectious Disease Division/MCA Program and has been Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics in the University of Southern California School of Medicine since 1997. His current interests include Prevention of Mother to Child HIV Transmission, Care of HIV infection in children, adolescents, and adults, Management and Prevention of HIV infection in resource-limited settings, and management of infectious diseases in children and adolescents. His work involves collaboration between the departments of Pediatrics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, and Internal Medicine. In addition to his clinical work, he is Principal Investigator at this site of several nationally based …research protocols, and is involved in the teaching and training of medical students, residents, mid-level providers, and foreign physicians involved in HIV care. He is a resource to physicians in the community in the areas of Pediatric Infectious Disease and HIV. His goals include helping to improve the care and prevention of HIV infection in underserved areas in Southern California, as well as in resource limited settings worldwide, integrating HIV prevention and care into health care systems and public health programs, and integrating advances in treatment and information into the care of infectious diseases in children.
