Dr. James Mason

8 minute visit. Dismissal of all my concerns. Over talked me. Never checked my scalp or belly. Pompous. In a hurry to leave!

Went in for Dr. Mason to check a fungal infection that had been diagnosed 4 months earlier as ringworm. By the time I got an appointment the lesions had lessened. It had been a horrible experience and I wanted to discuss it all. He told me the only way to get ringworm was via animals or a young child. I knew an over abundance of intestinal yeast from antibiotics and a weakened immune system was also a cause. He told me it was not infectious, although I knew it was highly contagious. He called Nystatin an antibiotic when in fact ,it is an antifungal! I asked for a body check and it was merger at best. He never checked my scalp at all. He never to look at my belly, but instead asked ME if I had anything on it!?? He ignored my questions on ringworm, seemed to talk fast and over me, never really listening! This whole thing took exactly 8 minutes! There’s no telling what he charged my insurance! The staff was all 20 something who never looked you in the eye! Will not go back.

Went in for a skin check up (I’m a lifeguard in college) and to have a mole checked out. He did not knock on the door before walking in and I was still changing. He did not listen to a single concern I had and judged my job choice the whole check up. Told me that my tan was for looks (Again, I’m a lifeguard). He also judged me for wanting my mole removed and continued to tell me I was being vain about it without letting me explain why I wanted it removed. He constantly talked over me, judging me and never let me talk. He reiterated several times that I was vain and his skin check was quick and could hardly be called a skin check. Will never go back. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. Felt beyond uncomfortable, judged, and disrespected. AND ridiculously overpriced for the 7 minute appointment.

Good man, good Doc

Today was my first visit with Dr. Mason. He was very nice and very professional. I would recommend him to my friends.

I made an appointment for a skin cancer screening and to have eczema treated. The dr did not knock before entering the room & I was still changing. He did not introduce himself. When I began to tell him about the eczema he did not listen. Then he spent perhaps 5 minutes doing a skin check; completely skipping my scalp, private regions, chest and belly. I will NEVER see this clinician again.

Dr. Mason is a poor listener, did not even examine me closely, and articulated details that were not even medically accurate. His bedside manner is terrible. Comes across as a pompous jerk.

I made an appointment with Dr. Mason's office to evaluate two areas on my face that I was concerned about. I had an excellent experience. The office staff were pleasant and professional. When I called to make an appointment and expressed my concerns they gave me a timely appointment. I didn't have to wait weeks to be seen, which would have been the case with other offices I called. Dr. Mason addressed all of my concerns. He was professional. He was kind. He put my fears to rest. I will certainly go back to see Dr. Mason and I would confidently recommend him to friends and family.

Well I've had a couple of instances of alopecia (quarter size bald spot that appear on your head) I still lived in waco the first time it happened. Second time I was here in Round Rock, so I went to a local office (with great ratings).. lady told me my hair would grow back in 6 weeks, two months later, no hair. So I made the trip to go visit Dr Mason again, he fixed me up right away, my hair finally grew back. Also told him I was getting dry spots on my skin, all he said was stop using body wash, use regular soap, the spots dissappeared.. I would definitely go back to him if I needed to.

I am very sad to see the negative reviews. I had been to other dermatologists in the Waco, TX area. None of these visits led to a satisfactory outcome. When I found Dr. Mason, it was an answered prayer. To be sure, he does not engage in chit-chat. That is not his job! He listened to my concern and was able to accurately diagnose. I have had significant results and am highly pleased. It seems too many people want doctors to coddle them. This folks, is not necessary. We appreciated his high degree of professionalism and willingness to listen. For those of you that are interested in great medical care and don't need to be treated with kid gloves, give this wonderful doctor a try!
