Dr. James Allen Nelson, MD

Dr. Nelson has been my psychiatrist for the last 3 years. He is absolutely amazing. He never just pushes pills on patients like a lot of doctors tend to do now. He takes my opinions into consideration when looking at treatment options and has been incredible to me even at my lowest points. He also does not sugar coat things. He will tell you when he thinks you're not doing as well as you're letting everyone else believe. He even coordinated with my therapist on how I'd been at her visits and what progress I was showing. I now live over an hour away from his office and I refuse to find a doctor here locally. Instead I make the trip there because I know I'm in good hands with him. The office staff sucks, but that is everywhere you go nowdays. The best doctors have crap staff and the crap doctors have the best staff.

i hate this office. the receptionist is rude and never answers my questions. they charged me for over 400$ worth of treatment that should have been billed to my insurance and they double booked appointments then MADE ME pay a cancellation fee

The worst staff possible. I have a $0 copay because I have let my maximum out of pocket with my insurance. They still DEMANDED a $50 deposit just to schedule an appointment. It's not a credit card hold. They actually wanted to charge $50 to schedule an appointment. When I pointed out that was a direct of my insurance companies policies the response was - "That's too bad" and they hung up on me.

Both my teenager son and I are very happy with our visit with Dr. Nelson. He took the time to explain to us the medication and diagnosis. We never felt rushed during the visit. He asked a lot of good questions and has the kind of intuition and sense of humor that a psychiatrist needs to make a patient feels at ease. We did not have to wait for our appointment. highly recommend him.

I find Dr. Nelson to be a very caring and interested Dr. He treats my 6 year old and is very interactive with him at each appointment. He is conservative with meds and keeps a constant watch on him. I cannot say anything but good things about Dr. Nelson

Keep your teenagers away from him.
