Dr. James Henri Petrin, MD

Summary: Dr. Petrin's office has left me with an unexpected bill of over $800. Details: I visited Dr. Petrin for a non-cosmetic issue. For unknown reasons and without explanation Dr. Petrin sent my lab test to some lab (Vicor Lab), which is out-of-state and not covered by my insurance (I have very widely used insurance). This unpredictable action cost me several months of stressful calls, emails, and unresolved billing issues. Despite numerous calls to Dr. Petrin’s office, leaving messages, and speaking with representatives, I received no follow-up or resolution. Same outcome with and Vicor Labs. The issue remains unresolved. This is the clear example how one unprofessional move can lead to very entangled situation and leave client with a huge $800+ medical bill!

Was suffering from a complicated condition for more than 5+ months. James treated it with very effective medicines. Highly effective and I have grown back 95% of it.

I went in 15 mins early for my 9am and was called in to an examniation room at 9:15am by what appeared to be an RN. She seemed very apathetic and asked me the cursory questions of why I'm here and medical history. She then left stating the Doctor would see me in a few. Another 5 minutes later Dr. Petrin walks in and offers a handshake. He immediately took a look at the dry patch on my leg and stated it's psoraris and he will give me topical steroid cream. He was about to walk out without giving me an opportunity to speak. I had to interject and say that I've had these before, topical steroids don't work and what has worked well in the past is to either scrape it off or freeze it. He still didn't have the time to ask how it manifested or what were the stmptoms, are there any other concerns, why steroids didn't work etc... He just protested that freezing isn't his typical treatment since it just replaced the itch sensation to burning sensation. However to his credit, he did agree to… freeze it. I understand some doctors don't like being told what to do but not even asking or be courteous enough to hear the patients past experience is just bad practice. I would have appreciated if he explained why steroid would be better than freezing or what steroid does that freezing doesnt. He did prescribe me the topical steroid as well. The icing on the cake was his RN then rudely told me that I may leave. I enquired about the strength of the topical steroid and the lady was visibly frustrated that I had asked her a question. I then asked her to check the pharmacy my prescription being sent to because there are two pharmacies pretty close by and doctor offices have gotten them wrong. She responded in a very annoyed tone that it's the same one I wrote down. At this point I was done dealing with this terrible experience and promptly left. The front desk ladies were friendly.

Stunned. This place was recommended by a friend of friend. Last time I do that. I made an appt easy enough and showed up at 2:00 for my 2:15. At about 2:35 I was taken to a room. A very apathetic "nurse" asked me some questions, and she acted like she would rather be getting a root canal than doing her job. The "doctor" came in (the lady PA), threw a limp handshake at me, then proceeded to plop into a chair across the room as I sat on the examination table. It was a one sided awkward conversation, where I felt I had to guide the appointment. I wrote down about 5 things on my intake form that I wanted to chat about, including a cancer screening, but apparently only one topic allowed. The doctor was slumped in her chair like she was on break, and didn't even attempt to actually look at my face or my body. She spatted out a bunch of products than left the room. Stunned, I walked out and to the front desk. The front desk said we will get X product for you, and I said, what about the other… items she mentioned? The nurse came back, rolled her eyes, and said it would be sent to my pharmacy. I told her that was not clear. They brought the cream and said "that will be $125." I paused for a second, disgusted at the experience I just had, and said never mind, I am leaving. I was not about to give these jerks any more money. The two very nice front desk ladies did not seem surprised at all, and literally 3 seconds after I said I just had a terrible experience, they handed me a Starbucks gift card and said "at least you can have a couple of frappachinos on us." I said WOW! DOES THIS HAPPEN OFTEN? for you to have these ready so quickly? No comment from them. Just got my bill- how quick they got that processed, huh?- and have to pay $83 out of pocket after insurance. DON'T GO HERE.
