Dr. James Scott Pigg, MD

There is a major disconnect as you don’t hear from Dr Pigg, nor see him after surgery. Dr Pigg called seconds after the surgery and said “things went great, any questions!?” There is no face to face contact with Dr Pigg following surgery to ask questions and no appointment with Dr Pigg at the three week follow up appointment. He leaves everything to his assistant who is equally hard to get in touch with after leaving numerous messages at the hospital. To make matters worse, the discharge nurse was clueless when we asked her questions about the procedure and possible complications. This is the first time I’ve ever dealt with a surgeon not following up with his patient post op and disappointing to say the least, as we had many questions that went unanswered. Three days post op, my fiancée ended up in the ER and I truly believe this could have been prevented if we were able to see the doctor and ask questions face to face. It’s like you’re completely on your own after the… surgery/total knee replacement and we certainly felt this way because of the disconnect. The importance of patient and surgeon interaction is so important and cannot be substituted, especially with a complex surgery like a knee replacement.

Take time to go to Wichita to a more caring doctor. Pigg told me I was a orthopedic nightmare. After a knee replacement, and two knee revisions with Pigg replacing two spacers; the second one was causing me to fall just the the first one. He wouldn’t see me as a patient even when I asked. I always saw a PA of his, and often different each time. I got a second opinion finally, and come to find out, I have nothing left of my knee and I’ll undergo a total knee revision by Dr. Jeffery Shepard in Wichita. Dr. Pigg also did a carpal tunnel surgery on me that failed. Second one I had done by Dr. Gluck in Wichita, and I’m doing great with it. My mom went to see Pigg for her hip, and she is disappointed that she never had a follow up appointment with him. No care at all for his patience. Hearing more and more about him from friends being dissatisfied about him too. Go to Wichita!

Dr. Pigg takes the time to answer any questions I may have. I get knee injections and barely feel any pain when he does it.

Dr Pigg is a very good and professional dr who cares about his patients and does a wonderful job at explaining every detail about his opinion and procedures. I wish he still worked at St Francis in Wichita!
