Dr. Pitts removed cataracts from both my eyes and implanted IOLs. One required a Toric lens to correct for heavy astigmatism that required advanced eye measurements and precise placement and implantation to insure proper operation. He succeeded beyond my most optimistic expectations. After a staggered schedule -- about two weeks between operations -- and 2-3 weeks of healing, I am now able to see in both eyes better than I can ever remember since childhood. I am 71 years old and in my opinion now see better than previously, even when still wearing my glasses! I no longer need them for distance or driving, but still use readers for close-up detail and computer work, exactly as I had hoped and planned. I especially like the way Dr. Pitts led me through lens selection and what to expect before, during and after the operations. (The Toric lens came with a $1000 out of pocket premium that has certainly been worth the added cost.) Although he is one of the youngest members of the… ophthalmology department at Kaiser, his skills speak to a measure of professional diligence, competence and operation room experience well beyond his age that leads to success in meeting the needs of his patients. And that is what is most important. I could not commend him more to his future patients who I think will agree with me that they are in good hands with Dr. Pitts.
