Dr. James Thurmond, MD

Doc Thurmond is a great physician and saw bones. I could barely walk when i first met him. I am 63 and did a lot of manual labor for a good part of my life. Doc looked at my MRIs and said that i needed a laminectomy and explained the procedure in simple terms. I felt comfortable with him and he had a number of high ratings. He had a good sense of humor and was very easy going. The surgery was at Lancaster General and the team there from pre to post op was great as well. The week after surgery was no picnic to be totally honest but 2 weeks out there was significant improvement and by 8 weeks i felt like i was 20 years younger with no pain. It has now been 3 months and I am able to walk miles, ride my bike and lift 20 to 30 pounds without worry at this point. I would recommend Doc Thurmond to friends and relatives that need spinal surgery.

Dr. Thurmond performed a discectomy with fusion on my neck. My recovery has been way ahead of schedule. Six months out I am completely back to normal! Dr. Thurmond and his staff were super! Polite, pleasant, knowlegeable and professional! I highly recommend Dr. Thurmond and his staff!

Dr. Thurmond was knowledgeable and thorough in explaining cause and treatment of my father’s back condition. He was realistic in presenting and explaining the possible outcomes. Fortunately our outcome was positive and reduced the pain level for this condition to near 0. Dr. Thurmond was willing to answer all our questions patiently. I would return to him for treatment and would recommend him to friends seeking help for similar conditions.

Had pain down my leg for months. Saw Dr. Thurmond in November and he operated the next week. I am now pain free.

Dr. Thurmond was very attentive and caring. His diagnosis was spot on and post surgery my symptoms were alleviated.

Dr. Thurmond performed a double spinal fusion and decompression surgery on my lumbar spine back in February. Years of low back pain has greatly improved and the severe nerve pain that ran down my right leg is finally gone. He and his assistant, Jaclyn, were most attentive during my recovery while in the hospital and during my post-op appointments, as well. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Thurmond to anyone who needs spinal surgery, as he is an excellent neurosurgeon.

Dr. Thurmond showed genuine concern for my frustrations and was very empathetic in understanding my condition. He answered all my questions thoroughly and offered solutions to help me get back to a normal life. Note: I did not select a wait time because there wasn't any. After I completed my paperwork my name was called. I didn't have time to sit. :)
