Dr. Jamie Melissa Grubey, MD

Dr. Jamie Grubel provided my mother with the worst surgical experience she has ever experienced. My mom was scheduled to have a biopsy done for a mass that is located on the right side of her pharynx. During the procedure my mother stated that she felt as if she was dying because she couldnt breathe. She stated that she asked her to stop while in the process and they added more sedation medicine to her IV line. My mom has blood vessels that have burst in both eyes. She has literally been in the bed for days. If Dr. Grubey had the inability to perform a procedure correctly she should not of done it. It is truly unethical for her perform a procedure she is incapable of performing. Being incapable of performing a task and reffering a patient to someone who can can properly perform the procedure correctly wouldnt of made her a bad surgeon but a safe one that can be trusted to make reasonable and sound decisions. Also studying her patients case knowing were the mast was located and how… narrow her throat is would of been the appropriate call to make before attempting to do the procedure. She had her colleagues come in to help but it didn't help because they hadn't studied her case either. My mother had a colectomy performed several years ago by Dr. Julie Thacker. Before Dr. Thacker performed the surgery she stated that she would study my mothers case because she saw in her charts that she had a trachotomy. Dr. Thacker wanted to make sure she used the correct tube when inserting the tubes down her throat during the sedation process. Dr. Thacker studied my moms case and my mom had no issues after the procedure. Dr. Thacker was proficient, professional, competent, ethical, considerate, and confidently handled her duties the correct way. My mom stated that after her surgery with Dr. Grubel she feels like a walking zombie. Perform your Research on these doctors before allowing them to operate or care for you. Especially if you are an African American. Studies show that we are the least likely to receive proper care within healthcare settings. Due your own due diligence. I'm give no stars in reality the one star is only because I have to.

Dr Grubey did robotic surgery for my husband. He had cancer on the base of his tongue. She was able to get it all. She did a great job, I can not say the same about the office staff of Greenville ENT. They did not call back, after 2 major surgeries, when we called to get in touch with his other surgeon or nurse. Never received one call back. We were billed for the same thing 3 times and finally refunded the extra payments because we gave up and just paid the bill to avoid being turned over to collections. I could not get anyone to assist when I would call for help with the duplicate billing(s) & left multiple voice mails asking for a call back. The nurse Misty was actually rude when I called and got through to her after 6 tries with a question about the pain medicine having acetaminophen (which my husband was told to never take) instead of ibuprofen. She literally hung up after quickly saying Drr. Brodish was aware of all my husbands issues and to take whatever he ordered for him… and we could discuss any concerns at his follow up in 2 weeks. We had to call his gastrointestinal physician. (Which I believe is how Greenville ENT prefers to handle all issues...you call another more genuine and caring physician’s office!?). I would recommend Dr. Grubey but not the practice overall. (BTW, his other physicians office called the ENT and told them he needed a different pain medicine and why and requested them to change it, which they did once they were contacted by another MD, but my husband went without proper medication for 2 (almost 3) days post op., likely because it was a weekend, and when I called the Friday before they could not be bothered with checking voice mails, and no one answers calls. Note this all occurred during the COVID-19 restrictive office visit period so I can not justify that they were to busy seeing patients. Just over all very uncaring and unprofessional administration. They have no competition in Greenville, NC so they are lazy and comfortable with their general lack of consideration and compassion.
