3 years of wrong diagnosis and wrong medications that caused a life threatening event

Very disappointed and disillusioned by my experience with this doctor. She was recommended to me by my child’s psychologist. Started off fine, mostly she just did what I suggested rather than coming up with anything new, but whatever. However, her awful billing service sent me bills for AN ENTIRE YEAR marked “insurance pending.” Didn’t send a payment because I was waiting for a statement showing what I owed after insurance paid. Never got one - instead I got a call from the billing service saying they wanted to use my credit card number that was on file for a different client to bill me the entire balance because my insurance hadnt paid. I told the billing person that they cannot transfer billing information between unrelated accounts because it’s ILLEGAL and called Dr. Mertens to make payment arrangements. She didn’t call me back. A week later, my child had a major mental health crisis. Left Dr. Mertens another message. No response. Now I see her when I take my kid to his… psychologist. Dr. Mertens pretends not to see me. Wow. So professional. So much for the hypocratic oath. All about money with no regard for your child’s wellbeing. Needless to say, we have looked elsewhere for better care. In the meantime, she stopped approving our prescriptions so my child was without necessary medication while we tried to get into another doctor. Avoid at all costs!!!!!
