Dr. Jane Nelson is a great breast surgeon. She and her staff were so professional and helpful during my needle biopsy for cancer.

At first I was misdiagnosed by another doctor. The head breast person at one of the hospitals took 6 samples of a mass that my gynecologist had found. I was told that it was just fibrocystic change. Someone at my husband's work kept telling him that I should go and see Dr. Nelson. Thankfully I went to get a second opinion from Dr. Nelson. She had me raise my arms above my head and told me that she thought I had been misdiagnosed. After surgery, the pathologist confirmed that she was correct. Dr. Nelson took part of her Thanksgiving holiday to operate on me. I am so thankful to her for saving my life. I have been her patient for more than 16 years, and I highly recommend her.

I have been seeing Dr. Nelson for 5 years. She performed my surgery and my scars are invisible. She has excellent bedside manner. She and her office staff are very professional and caring. I highly recommend her.

Had repeatedly bad experiences with Dr. Nelson. First of all, VERY poor bedside manner. It's difficult to trust a surgeon who you feel doesn't care about you at all. Also, she could not seem to keep appts. I was rescheduled multiple times by her office, and she is so booked up that when you are forced to reschedule, you may have to wait two more weeks to get back in. You will also not be prioritized in any way - a followup for someone in full remission will be treated with the same priority as someone who has operable, but fast growing cancer. Rapidly growing breast cancer was not considered urgent. I had to wait 3-6 weeks to get a surgery date while I had rapidly growing cancer in my breast. I worry for others who might consider this treatment by a surgical office the norm - it is not. There are plenty of other surgeons in Austin who are highly experienced in breast surgery who can get you an appt. and surgery in a week or less, and who WILL consider your cancer size/stage as a… point of potential urgency in scheduling -- as I came to learn by finding a new surgeon.

I was very frightened when I first met with them. They were all professional and compassionate . They worked as a team. I had a few complications post surgery with fluid build up due to overactive lymph nodes and they fit me in 3 times extra for drainage at no additional charge. They are very clear about procedures and follow up. I always felt secure with their treatment.

Dr. Nelson came highly recommended by my Ob-Gyn in Austin,TX. for breast cancer. Her concern is genuine. She listens to her patients and advises with terrific knowledge. Dr. Nelson is highly respected by the Drs. and Nurses at St. David's Hospital. That says alot from her peers. She is the best in Austin, believe me!!

Dr. Nelson is a fantastic doctor and I've been singing her praises ever since I walked into her office! Her office staff is the friendliest bunch I've come across in a long time and they are very efficient. Dr. Nelson helped me through a very difficult time and was able to perform a less drastic, breast conservation surgery that other doctors wouldn't even try. I'm proud to call her MY doctor!

won't go back-was very disappointed in time spent with me during my appt. I felt like she rushed through and was not that thorough. After following up with her regarding imaging tests, I decided to go to another Dr. I felt like she was not taking my health and my concerns seriously.
