Dr. Janis Kristine Koh, MD

Unfortunately I’ve had very similar experiences to those complaints noted in these reviews. At first I thought I may be wrong but clearly there are a few others who actually had serious diagnosis after almost begging this doctor to pay attention to their concerns. I appreciate the reviews ihere as I’m definitely changing my doctor, I am not someone who goes to the doctor but each brief interaction I’ve had with Dr Koa I feel like she brushes my concerns off & ignores me leaving me feeling like I’m bothering her & I don’t even want to go to the doctor as I feel like a nuance. Clearly a pattern kaiser should be addressing. I’m a life long kaiser patient & never had this before...:(

Refused appropriate treatment.

Refused my husband a colonoscopy and a stool sample kit multiple times because he’s “too young”. He finally switched doctors and has just been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that has spread to his liver so badly that it is now inoperable. Save yourself and find someone else.

My 43 year old husband has been wth Dr. Janis Koh for years. After noticing major, disturbing changes in his bowel activity and discussing his concerns with Dr. Koh in detail, he requested a colonoscopy. She assured him he was too young and that it was most likely only a hemorrhoid. Months later, it worsened. He requested one again. This time she scheduled a Sigmoidoscopy, only a partial review of the colon, and from that, she decided it still must be a small hemorrhoid causing an alarming amount of bleeding and weight loss. He also requested a FIT kit, which is an easy and inexpensive test used to detect colon cancer. She denied his request, stating it was only prescribed if there’s a family history of colon cancer. This didn’t make sense to me. Terrified and frustrated, I urged my partner to seek the advice of a new doctor. When he finally made the switch, his new physician, who practices in the same facility, immediately scheduled a full colonoscopy. The next afternoon he was… diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer that has metastasized to his liver and possibly lymph nodes. At this point, the cancer has spread too far to operate and chemotherapy is now the only option. He’s only 43 years old and regrets nothing more than leaving his fate in the hands of one completely negligent doctor.
