Dr. Jason Charles Coletta, DO

I had a terrible experience with the prenatal care and delivery with my first child so I went to a completely different hospital for my second. I had heard great things about Dr. Coletta already so I decided to give him a go. He is hands down one of the best doctors I have ever come in contact with. He’s knowledgeable, respectful, caring and good at what he does. He will be my doctor from now on and deliver any babies I may have in the future.

My previous doctor is no longer with NEA Baptist and I was reassigned to Dr. Coletta. During the breast exam he opened up my gown so that my entire naked body was exposed. No gynecologist I had seen prior or have seen since has done this. He looked me up and down and commented that my stretch marks were very dark. He then asked me if I was happy with the way my body looked. I didn't know what to say. Before I could respond he told me that I should watch my weight or my body would become even worse than it already was. The pelvic exam took much longer than it had with different doctors. All the while he continued to comment on my body in a way that did not relate to health but rather to my physical appearance. I have never felt so vulnerable. I left the hospital crying that day. Do not use this doctor if you are not comfortable with him seeing your entire body and giving you his personal opinion of it.

I was experiencing severe bleeding. On my second trip to the ER, I was seen by Dr.Colette. He seen right away I needed a D&C and blood transfusion immediately. I will be using him for all my follow up care.

I’m writing this review because I know how hard it is to settle on a doctor for prenatal care. So, hopefully this helps someone. Dr. Coletta recently delivered my second baby, so I saw him often, and have another experience to compare to. At first he can come across a little textbook and to the point, but I found that I really liked him as my doctor. He was so great at listening to any concerns I had and he let me be my own advocate. He did not dismiss anything I wanted to do or any time I wanted to question his plan of care. He is a bit over cautious in my opinion, but I would rather that than a doctor that doesn’t care. He also was so calm and collected in the delivery room. He seemed happy to be there and easily delivered a healthy baby. Dr. C has the knowledge that makes him good at his practice, but more importantly he has the heart that makes him a good person. When you combine those two things you really get a great doctor.

I was uneasy about having a male gyno considering I am a female in my early 20s and preferred a woman doctor. The wait time for a woman doctor at NEA was longer, so I went with Dr. Coletta and I'm glad I did. He went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable, at ease, and in general he is a highly knowledgable person and if I had to go back and choose between him and a female doctor, I'd choose him every single time. He had answers for all my questions, he's obviously a very busy guy but he took time to explain and help me make various well-informed decisions. He inserted the Nexplanon into my arm and was super gentle. Also, I had a little rash between my breasts and I mentioned it to him and he prescribed me steroid cream (which is probably the job of a Dermatologist - again, he goes above and beyond) but the rash went away in a day. I can't say enough great things about him, truly a great doctor & man! He's also easy on the eyes as well, which is just a plus. ;-)

I prefer to be a non-medicated person. My impression of Dr Coletta is that there is a pill for everyone, the female body is gross and periods shouldn't exist. Offered medicines for every "is this normal" question I had when I had made it clear that I was looking for information, not drugs. Lacks tact for dealing with people that want to have a say in their treatment, look at all their options and be informed. He tried to be kind and did take time with me, but we didn't see eye to eye. I still don't think I was given accurate information. Offered the flu shot like it was NOT optional. (I'm not anti-vaccine; I was just there for a pap that I didn't even get) Not the Dr for me.
