Dr. Jason Bruce Karp, MD

I developed an upper respiratory infection and chose to see Dr Karp for follow up because he cared for my father for many years. I always accompanied him to his visits and found the doctor to be very professional, caring, always explained conditions and most importantly, was very calming. I'm not sure if the doctor didn't recognize me without my father, (different names), but I was treated very differently and made to feel very uncomfortable and defensive. I was looking for a pulmonary doctor, not a Lifestyle Guru. I'm not interested in purchasing electronic pain devices, I go to Pain Management monthly , I'm not purchasing your all natural weight loss supplements for a 5 lb gain, and I'm certainly not going to travel at night to join a pool, when I go to PT for post surgical rehab. I have a problem with the doctor not respecting that I have chronic pain and it shouldn't be dismissed because he's unfamiliar with it or doesn't believe it. The doctor also kept trying to push a Sleep… Study on me even though I don't have a problem. I was emphatic about not having a sleep problem and he ordered it anyway! His patient notes entered in the portal were so alarming that I spoke to his Office Managers to get them corrected. I was told he adds them to everyone's! I now have so called conditions listed that have not been confirmed. This was a horrible experience and I will not be returning.

Dr. Jason Karp came highly recommended and perhaps that's why I was SO DISAPPOINTED in the level of medical professionalism he displayed toward me. His idea of exercise for me to do before having an exam was to walk his hallway for 30 minutes while an attendee watched. He then had is ?nurse? preform an inhalation/exhalation test. He then spoke with me in his office. I explained that I knew I had asthma which only flared up in cold weather. After those two simple processes he decided I should go on a regiment of Trelogy and a nasal spray. I followed his suggestion for many months, calling several times and reporting that I was developing a sore throat and difficulty swallowing. I never received a return call. During my last appointment with him I once again complained about my throat problems. Later that day I saw my family doctor and told him about my throat problem. He immediately zeroed in on the Trelogy and suggested that if I go off the Trelogy for 30 days. Sure enough, after… being off the Trelogy for 3 weeks the symptoms totally disappeared. Why oh why would my Pulmonologist, Dr. Karp know this and not take me off of a medication I was clearly allergic to. During one session with Dr. karp, I mentioned I was having trouble sleeping and might have restless leg syndrome. He immediately offed to treat that with another medication. My confidence in Karp was so diminished at this point that I did research on the medication he prescribed. Low and behold I found a slew of devastating side effects including making RLS worse. Again, this Doctor came highly recommended, but with my experiences, I would not send anyone to see him.

My Dad went to Karp for a while & showed up for every appt. Starting on 9/13/22, my Dad spent 7 straight weeks in 2 hospitals before returning home. He lost the ability to walk & needed physical therapy, which he began at home. Karp has 0 ability to return phone calls. In early December, my Dad was coughing quite a bit & Karp returned 0 phone calls. It took reaching out daily for 12 days before one Karp's assistants sent in the prescription. The medicine caused my Dad to cough more instead of less. My Dad had missed a 12/8 appt. Karp didn't bother to check why--he couldn't walk yet. With the medicine not working, I had to set up a video call with one of his nurses for 12/21. My Dad passed away on 12/20. Still 0 phone calls from Karp. A few weeks later, Karp sent a scathing letter to my deceased Dad, lecturing him on neglecting his care. Maybe if Karp picked up a phone once, my Dad would still be alive. Karp is a lowlife who I'm investigating whether his neglect led to my Dad's death.

Stay away from this doctor and the new hospital system, in New York, that he works for. He is only interested in billing out for the five minute office visits he provides and taking money from big pharma, for the incorrect medicines he prescribes and gets paid for. A truly out of touch doctor, who sold out his practice, his medical ethics and the well being of his patients for money.

I had been a patient of Dr. Karp for several years, but when he opened the new, fancy practice, I was referred to his associate who decided that I did NOT have asthma. I was told that I was considered a "new patient" and anything that happened in the past did not matter. I was shocked as this is not an ethical way to practice medicine. Neither Dr. Karp nor his associate helped me with my respiratory & pulmonary allergic responses-- they did not care at all. I do NOT recommend Dr. Karp or his associate to anyone.

Doctor Karp was the best, but he seems he is overwhelmed with patients. It is my believe that his office, staff and Northwell is slowly tearing him down. He spends more time dictating to his typist than he does answering the patients questions. How many messages do I have to leave with his staff before I receive a reply. 1, 2, 3, 4, .......... The old doctor Karp was the best.

by far he is the greatest pulmonologist in New York. he has saved me from asthma attacks numerous times.

Dr. Karp is clearly a superior doctor, diagnostician, concerned about your entire physiology, understanding how it relates to the specific problem you came for. But his support staff can't pass the ball, they fumble most everything, they do not return calls same day, they do not respond to outside vendor important faxes. They totally sabotage their doctor's reputation. Dr Karp elicits confidence in his patients, but his optimism is fantasy because his staff fails to follow through.

Dr. Karp used to take care of everyone in our family (in-laws included). We all started to see him when he was part of Pro Health (Now he is a Northwell physician). My mother is 84 and has had several emergency situations it is impossible to reach him and his office staff refuses to give an appt. no matter how serious the situation. He absolutely over medicates his patients. I brought my then 13 year old son to him 3 years ago for Asthma and of course Dr. Karp wanted to load him up on medications being a nurse and my husband a physician we thought the better of it and my son has not had a sympton in three years nor has he taken any of the unnecessary medications. Most recently our Aunt had a situation that warranted his immediate attention (at 83 she did not want to go to the ER) his office refused to give her an appt. before two weeks. He has changed since he started practicing and has become uptight and inconsiderate. He pushes everyone to go for a sleep study so my guess is he is… financially invested in that as well. Btw he will gossip between family members and people that know each other that is a fact so please be careful what you share with him. To me that is the most unprofessional thing you can do. Trust me find another doctor!

My first and only appointment with Dr. Karp was not very satisfying. He told me his findings in a quick and flippant way. I'm looking for a new pulmonologist . Any suggestions?
