I thought I made the right decision by picking Yoakum County and Dr. Frankfather for my prenatal care. The first trimester care was fine. He was very attentive and respectful. The second trimester is where things started to go down hill. Any questions or concerns I had seemed to go unanswered and ignored. With previous conditions I have, I was unable to complete the glucose test and asked to monitor my sugar myself for a few weeks instead of taking the test. I was labeled with gestational diabetes as soon as I asked for something out of the normal even though my blood sugar never spiked to an unhealthy level that would warrant me to have gestational diabetes. At week 35 of my pregnancy, I contracted Covid-19. After 5 days of fever, I called labor and delivery as I was concerned about my baby. I was told not to come in unless it was over 102. I called Frankfather’s office asking to check my baby the following Monday for my peace of mind, and they flat out refused me due to Covid. I… ended up going in the the Annex clinic for some kind of help or to be checked only to be given a Covid test and sent home, again with NO prenatal care. I called Frankfather’s office yet again practically begging for care and was told to come in a week from said call to be checked. At this point, I had already had a fever for 10 days. I ended up going to UMC Labor and Delivery to get checked a day later as my baby hadn’t moved and I was having a hard time breathing. They treated me with no issues or fuss and delivered my baby five days later. All in all, I would suggest people don’t be like me and pick an OB based on word of mouth from locals as to how “great” a doctor be because they’re definitely not right all the time.
