Dr. Jay Allan Lutins, MD

I took my mother (70) to a hospital follow up appointment with Dr. Lutins on Mon, Sep 19, 2022. He barely spent 2 min in the room with us, he was dismissive and walked away as we tried to ask questions. My mother had a catheter left in her following her hospitalization from a few days earlier. He simply looking at her, said it would just have to stay in for the rest of her life, that in her state that’s best that could happen. No physical examination. No review of her medical records. No discussion with us about options or risks or what she might do at home to improve her condition. As I tried to ask questions he literally edged out of the room and walked out on us. As he did this he said he would order her an antibiotic to prevent infection and home health care to change the catheter monthly. He did not write this down and at checkout the staff did not have the orders. The woman treated me badly and was rude to me. Two days later and several follow up phone calls and the antibiotic… still has not been ordered for my mother. Worst experience I have ever had with a doctor and a medical practice. And this is not just a one-time experience, when I related this to my father when returning my mother home, he said Dr. Lutins acted the same way when he made rounds at Mon valley hospital - that he barely came into the room, was dismissive and did not take time to answer any questions. I do not recommend you go to this doctor.

I was very unhappy with this Dr. His entire demeanor was standoffish. I felt his disinterest in what he did without any discussion at all. I think he is one that doesn’t want to bother with older people. No kudos from me.

jay lukins was my urologist for years referred to me by dr tianargo from san francisco who saved my life at birth.He is a great dr but his front desk staff really screwed our relationship up.i specifically told her that i didnt have insurance like before and that i was getting it soon.my visit was for a check up on my left kidney i had no issues just a check up.i visited with dr lukins and he asked me the general questions and told me his receptionist would set me up to get my kidney checked out.next thing i know i get a notice in the mail saying stint surgury which Dr lukins never disscussed with me.i called i left numerous messages with no reply back i did NOT go to splint surgery and i contacted his office that day in which i was told i stood him up twice without calling which is a lie.i have record call on my phone that record all my calls the proof is there.instead of calling me since his front desk would not let me speak with him before and after this incident where as in the… past we would talk direct about any issue.now im forced to see drs i dont know all because his front desk staff cant relay messages correctly and he cant pick up the phone and say whats going on.so bad business front desk is not always right he need to monitor what they say and what they do and how they talk to patients. He is a great dr and im the patient who has to suffer knowing my condition is serious

Very professional good experience

I read Mr Allen's comments regarding Dr Lutins. It sounds like he and I had the same surgery, which was placement of penile implant because of erection problems. I may be wrong with that assumption. He took incredible care of me and explained all the risks and benefits that come with that surgery. I had had a prior implant and he fixed things perfectly. I am very appreciative of his expertise and will be his patient happily forever. Very honest and skillful.

My appointment was scheduled for HIM, however, a visiting female was also present. I was NOT asked if I wanted a woman involved . He then proceeded with the exam in front of her, with a slight grin on his face. I felt as if I were on display. I wasn't offered an apology. I haven't been back since. I would not reccommend this "doctor".

What a great Doctor, no pain and stress with test and exams like I have had with other Urologists

I was appalled to see that another woman in this thread experienced the same issue as me. I gave the benefit of doubt, and considered maybe he just had a bad day... I went in for bladder pain, which I almost went to the ER for the night before. He spent maybe 5 minutes with me, and in that time he only said to consider abstaining from intercourse. I don't know if perhaps his response had been different had I been married, but in either case that is not his business. Sex would not be the root of the problem I am having. He didn't send my urine off for a culture or anything. Just simply said "stop having sex" and sent me on my way. Luckily, I found another doctor who diagnosed me with Interstitial Cystitis, and got me on treatment that has me feeling a bit better so far. I would say that perhaps he just doesn't know how to work with women, but I see that some men had issues with him as well. I personally think he shouldn't be practicing, period. I will continue to call my health network… and whoever else to express my concerns. They would not negotiate with my bill that I owe them. Doctors are one of the only businesses that can degrade you and provide less than satisfactory service but still make money from you. I hope no one makes the same mistake by visiting Dr. Lutins.

Was still in massive pain after 6 weeks of a vasectomy with no help or relief from the Dr.'s office. The procedure felt rushed and unsterile and with no assistance from nurses or technicians. Have not worked in 6 weeks. Sleep is nearly impossible.
