Dr. Jay Michael Portnow, MD

I am a Referral Coordinator for multiple primary care providers at a local health clinic. I have a patient I've been trying to schedule with Dr. Portnow. After faxing the patient's clinicals and demographics, I have now left a total of eight unreturned messages asking for a call back to schedule a patient. (No one has yet to answer the phone when I call.) I'd even faxed the office asking for a return call, noting that I'd left several messages. No return call (or fax) to date after one month of attempting to schedule. If this is how they treat their colleagues, I can only imagine how they must treat their patients. I will NOT be recommending this provider to my medical colleagues or any of our patients.

I have not had the pleasure of going to the office but I can tell you that the office never answers the phone and they do not return calls.

the staff is the worse I ever saw they was screaming and saing bad words to each other the doctor seems don't care appoiments is the worse place they never get back with you and never ever answer the call should be police on the place to prevent a death of the staff

My husband was referred here we had one appointment and had to wait 4 months for him to review my husbands case. A week prior to his appointment his primary changed his 24 hr medication. We released ALL of his medical records & when my husband took his drug test his current 24 hr medication & his previous (only changed a week prior) showed up. Dr Portnow told my husbands primary that he lied about his medication and he didn't want to work w/ him! Dr Portnow then called my husband belittling him & was so rude and was so inappropriate we want to file a complaint! I would tell anyone not to waist their time going to him!

I don't recommend anyone to go see this "doctor." His office looks like a crackhouse, his staff are not friendly and very unprofessional. Dr Portnow is constantly late to start the day. I had an appt one morning for 8:15 and he didn't show up until 30 min later and while I was waiting, his staff went to McDonald's for breakfast. Dr Portnow doesn't listen to your complaints, and god help you if you have a condition he doesn't understand because he will not take the time to learn about it, even if you bring in sufficient information. He does not work with you to find the correct medication or dose to help your pain. The first time he wrote me a prescription he said "This is all I am ever going to give to you so don't ask for anything else." And a few months later when I was having trouble managing my pain he refused to work with me or try anything different. I found out from my PCP that Portnow has not shared ANY information with him regarding my care. My boyfriend couldn't even come… with me to my appointments because he hates him so much he would have exploded on him for the way I have been treated. I am so happy that I have left his practice for one that understands my condition and is willing to work with me and get my pain under control. I wouldn't recommend anyone to this "doctor" even if your dog was dying.

Poor office management skills. long wait and no attention to detail from the doctor or the staff.

Having previously lived in New Hampshire I moved back here after becoming permanently disabled. I had been referred to Dr. Portnow for my pain management. I was shocked that it took over an hour to be seen EVERY time!! I felt like I was being judged the whole time every time I saw this doctor!! He was not nice and had NO bedside manner. His staff is one step behind him... not polite, never returned calls. I found myself looking for another pain management doctor who cared enough to take me in as a patient and treat me with the respect I deserved! I would not recommend him to my dog! I really felt he didn't bother to treat the problem. He was freely writing narcotics for other patients who obviously didn't need them (they would have carloads of people waiting in his parking lot). except those who need them to function daily!

I called for simple directions this morning as I HAD an appt. Your secretary was rude I could not get directions from her as she kept asking me "you don't know how to get to Brockton" Yes I do but not to your office otherwise I wouldn't have asked! When I asked her to find someone else she put me on hold and came back and said "NO" one knows well you just lost me for the 7 visits I was accepted for and I found another Dr. Sorry but I will not deal with attitude like that you should speak to your employees . Let me ask you how do they get to work every day ? When they don't know directions?????? Thats alot of $$$$$ you can thank your rude receptionist for!!!!!!!
