It is my personal mission to use my clinical skills and experience to reduce the suffering of oncology patients and support physicians in their work toward a cure.Jeanelle Folbrecht, Ph.D., counsels children, teens and young adults who are facing serious illness and prolonged treatment. She helps them get through it, keeping them focused, positive and moving toward achievable goals that improve their lives.And she practices what she preaches.When she was introduced to a young leukemia patient with no family support, Dr. Folbrecht quickly realized that, more than anything, the boy needed a parent. The Folbrechts adopted him.Her first exposure to City of Hope occurred after she read a magazine article about another leukemia patient and decided to register as a bone marrow donor.Dr. Folbrecht received her Ph.D. at Fuller Graduate School of Psychology in Pasadena, California, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Long Beach, California. …She's been a key member of City of Hope's staff for over 16 years.
