This man is awful. I would leave zero to negative stars if possible. He told me I wasn't in "real" labor even though my child was born 6 hours later. I think it had more to do with the fact that I was in labor at midnight and he didn't want to get out of bed. He wouldn't come in, wouldn't call in an anesthesiologist for my epidural. When the anesthesiologist finally did get authorized to come in, my epidural didn't take. Instead of redoing it, Dr. Lerch simply ignored my pleas for help and stayed comfy at home in bed. After the agonizing hours of labour my child was born and he was in the middle of stitching my appesiotamy, which I could feel every bit of since my pain meds didn't work. I was chanting "It's almost over" to myself to get through it, and he looked up at me and asked what my problem was - didn't I know the baby was out already? To top it off, when post partum depression hit me hard afterwards, he refused to try a slight increase in my antidepressants and instead told… me to see a psychiatrist. So I had to wait a month to get in for a psych appointment while my depression became worse and worse and I became suicidal. When I finally got my appointment, the clinician was quite surprised my OB wouldn't have just bumped me up a dose on his own, seeing that I had a history of post partum depression and it is quite normal to need an increase in meds at subsequent births. So unless your birth is guaranteed to be during his optimal waking hours, or you have non-feeling lady parts, or you have no chance of ppd occurring, I would go elsewhere for your medical needs.
