Courteous and professional

Cannot say enough good things about Dr .Mitchell, and his terrific staff. He was there for me to diagnosis the necessity of immediate quadruple bypass surgery. He visited me at all hours when I the hospital. He's been my cardiologist for close to twenty years now, and has been consistent in making difficult but smart decisions regarding my treatment through a myriad of circumstances over the years. Personable, professional, gentle, and extremely wise -all I can say is that I could not ask for more.

After being referred from my PCP to Dr. Mitchel, I called his office and spoke to a woman who later identified herself as Michelle, who much to my surprise was also the Office Manager. She answered the phone without saying "hello" or "good afternoon". She quickly asked me for my insurance information and got offended when I reminded her that she was speaking to a person on the other end of the phone and it would be nice of her that it doesnt cost anything to be cordial and polite. Her response was, "look do you want to make an appointment or not." I said not with her because I have a choice as to where I spend my money. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she said: "I am the Supervisor". I again asked could I speak to the person she reports to and she said, "I don't report to anyone, you're gonna have to deal with me!", in a loud and obnoxious voice. Realizing that she was both unprofessional AND ignorant I hung up the phone and called the doctor's main office in West Nyack. … I informed the person on the phone who identified herself as a nurse of Michelle's rude behavior and asked could I speak to a Supervisor. The person on the other end of the phone put me on hold and transferred me back to Michelle. During that short conversation, Michelle referred to me as "Baby" and referred to the medical practice as "my practice." She said she would call my PCP (as if I am in the 3rd grade) to let him know she was refusing to accept the appointment I had not wanted to make long ago. I understand that this is an excellent doctor with exceptional credentials but you will have to go through a less than professional office manager who is rude and abusive, to get to him. Good luck! Nobody deserves that behavior.
