Dr. Jeremy Ethan Levenson, MD

Three years ago, on routine annual eye exam, Dr. Levenson found a tiny spot in my retina that turned out to be a retinal melanoma. This is a rare condition (2,000 cases a year in the US) that can be fatal. Because it was caught while asymptomatic and tiny, and treated with radiation at Jules Stein Eye Institute, my vision remains good and my chances of living are excellent. (When I told Dr. Levinson that he might well have saved my life, he kind of shrugged it off, as if saying, well, that's what I'm supposed to do.)

I went to him once about half a year ago, telling him that my vision was blurry, I couldn't see far, or read, etc. He told me I have very minor issues but that he'd give me a glasses prescription anyway because "I wanted them". I got the glasses. They didn't do anything at all. They helped my good eye, but not the bad one. I made another appointment to go back, waited an hour in the front office, then got taken back into his room where I waited another hour. Finally he did a basic eye check up that took about 10 minutes, acknowledged that my bad eye got worse, did absolutely nothing about it, and sent me on my way. $75 appointment to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING? And make me wait 2 hours for him to do absolutely nothing. Later that week I got in a car crash where I totaled my car and somebody else's because I couldn't see them coming. Still no problems? If I look at a book I can't even see the words and if i want to see the words out of my good eye I have to turn the book sideways. … I have to retrace over my notes, so that anyone else would see two sets of notes overlapping, if I want to be able to read them. I'm a college student so this is a nightmare for me. Now I'm being told he was wrong and actually I need eye surgery and have needed it for a while. Had Levensen owned a brain, I could have prevented a lot of issues pain-wise, in school, on the road, and pretty much anywhere. But he has no brain so trusting him is essentially putting yourself in danger.
