Dr. Jill Marie Mattern

Unlike the other reviews written below, I was a former patient of Dr. Mattern, she is outstanding and in fact does care for your medical conditions. As to the staff I have never had an issue and they are completely professional every time Ive had an appointment!

My experience with Dr. Mattern differs big time from the rest of you ladies. I'm sorry for your experience. But for me, Dr. Mattern was kind and thorough. I was a high risk pregnancy and i wanted to have a tubal. I saw doc once a month of course. She was funny and took her time with each sonogram. Was sweet to my then 3 year old daughter. I requested her to do my c section. My section abs tubal took a long time. But in recovery she came in and told me how great I did considering it was a long procedure. Follow up visits were frequent because she didn't like the was the incision looked. So she had be come and see her weekly until we were sure I was healing correctly and the infection I got was clearing up (I'm over weight so it was a little more difficult) she'd happily show off my baby and huffed me good bye each time. I admit the front staff is not always nice and the phone sucks. But Dr. Mattern always got back to be when I called and was with new 100% every step of the… way. I Also admit that when I first met doc before pregnancy for a regular visit I was uncomfortable with her. She was quick and sharp. So I was hesitant when I got pregnant to work with her. But I was surprised at the change in her personality. She made me feel safe. She went the extra mile for me. She hugged me! I think that at first she is hard to get. I would recommend her to anyone. She may not be the softest woman in the world. She means business. I thank her for helping me. I hope more people get to see her the way I have.

I waited 20 minutes for someone to even approach me at the front window so I could check in for my appointment. Then I had found out that I had an outstanding balance from previous visits which I was never even notified about. (although they had claimed to have sent me statements in the mail.) When they called me into the room, it took the doctor about 15 minutes to come in, which is understandable. What bothered me the most is that the doctor spent most about 5 minutes with me. She completely disregarded what I was saying and even cut me off while I was speaking. She told me that even though the hospital diagnosed me with PCOS, they were probably lucky when they found my cysts and that doesn't actually mean I have it. I didn't get the chance to tell her that they ran my blood and did a sonogram on me (as she handed me 2 pieces of paper to get my blood ran and a sonogram done.) on her way out the door.

I have to agree with a former review; the staff is incredibly unprofessional and getting in touch with the office is a nightmare. However, my concern right now is RACHEL! She's the girl who answers the "emergency" line. I called this "emergency" line yesterday because I was having some bad bleeding problems. I've already been hospitalized for my bleeding, needing 2 blood transfusions. So, I felt my problem was an emergency. RACHEL answered and I began explaining my health issues to her. She seemed very unconcerned and kept trying to direct my call to the nurse. Having prior experience with the nurses line and that experience being... no one ever answers the nurses line and no one ever calls you back! I explained this to RACHEL and asked her to have my Dr. call me. She then told me "your doctor won't be calling you back today". I then requested to have another doctor in the office call me, to which she said "that doctor is seeing patients today and won't be calling you". I… was now extremely frustrated and said "this is bullsh#*@! " And RACHEL said, "do you want me to put you through to the nurse"? What other choice did I have??? RACHEL at that point thought she had switched my call over, but she made a big mistake!!! She didn't switch my call and I then heard her discussing me in the office... repeating what I had said, discussing my medical condition and mimicking me and laughing. She apparently found my medical issues funny. And she did a very poor imitation of me. I yelled through the phone that I could hear her, and she became quite panicked and hung up on me. This does not end here, that's a promise! I called the office back a few times and my situation was never rectified. Nor did I receive any kind of apology for RACHEL'S terrible behavior. I'm giving it one more day and then I am doing what I have to do. To me this is totally unacceptable, this is my health! Doctors nowadays think they are untouchable, I'm about to show them they're human just like me and if they think they're getting away with shabby medical treatment and unprofessional office staff; they're quite wrong. And this will go much further than a simple poor review over the internet!

Obstetrician, Dr. Jill Mattern (Dr. Herzog and assoc) is terrible! Don't waste your time going there.Her staff is very unprofessional and it's almost impossible to schedule an appointment, unless u go in person because they NEVER answer their telephone. It was hard to change my obstetrician because of transportation problems, she was the closest to me so I tried my best to deal with it all. Few times in the beginning, I would go in for my appointment and the nurse/ admin staff would tell me that the doctor isn't in due to some personal reason (which is not a problem, everyone has their own issues to deal with). When I questioned them as to why they didn't call me; their response was always the same... "Oh, didn't we call you? Somebody must've called you to tell you" Which is total rubbish because there were no missed calls at all. Finally every time I would meet with Dr. Mattern, it was about a 20 second visit where she would utilize the sonogram machine, tell us nothing about it,… and say that she wanted to see us in few weeks. But kept sending us to RUMC Antepartum for sonograms.

Had miscarriage @ 4-5 weeks Jill Mattern had no empathy, dismissed my report, made it seems as though what I saw was in correct. Never did a sonogram or ran blood test. Told me the pee test would always indicate pregnancy. I had to go to another to another obgyn to confirm no infection or DNC needed. The office staff are just as rude.
