Dr. Jitesh Kar, MD

I strongly do not recommend Dr. Kar if you are seeking a caring and compassionate professional. I have been a patient of Dr. Kars for several years. And while he provided the proper testing to diagnose my Small Fiber Neuropathy, he immediately referred me to the UAB Medical Center for treatment. While I was at UAB the doctors there did the rest of my testing and made the decision to start me on IVIG which Dr. Kar said, in writing, he would monitor in his office infusion center. Recently I developed other neurological symptoms which he dismissed as essential tremors. Fortunately, I had an upcoming appt. at UAB where they confirmed Parkinson's Disease. When presented with this diagnosis Dr. Kar refused to treat me for the Parkinson’s but again in writing reaffirmed he would continue with my IVIG. Through UAB and the Parkinson's Center here in Huntsville I was referred to a local Movement Specialist Dr. for treatment of the Parkinson’s. When that Dr. requested my records from Dr. Kar’s… office, without calling me Dr. Kar cancelled all my confirmed upcoming IVIG treatments. I did not know my appointments had been cancelled until I showed up for my next treatment and at that time Dr. Kar refused to tell me why my infusions were cancelled. To make matters even worse he told me I needed to stop speaking with his staff and leave his office immediately as they had other work to do. This was done in front of his entire staff and other patients, an action that left me shocked and humiliated. This interaction denied me the medically essential treatment that he had said he would provide. Since I have no other arrangements for the IVIG treatment I will suffer the adverse effects until I can get an appointment with another Neurologist. This was the worst doctor/patient experience I have ever had to endure.

I had a referral to his office. No one would answer the phone for days. I finally got a text back after leaving a message and the message said they would call me in a week for an initial visit in the future. Changed my referral the next day. With reception like this I would not expect a good experience.

I like Dr. Kar but the office staff is a shyt show. Going on the 3rd day now & I cant make an appt. No one answers the phones. But you'll get a text right after calling. You respond & they'll respond hrs later. You respond & wait another 12+ hrs for them to ask another question. Then guess what.. yup, no response.. I call again bc this is ridiculous & shouldn't take 2days just to schedule an appt. Same thing & it starts all over. This is insane. I'm literally down to less than a week left on my meds & I'm dealing with this foolishness. Then, they close at 5pm, but if you call at 4pm or after, you'll get the after hrs answering service, which is the only ppl that answer the phone but they can only take a message or transfer you to the voicemail, which is always full. This is not the 1st time I've had issues with the staff but this is it. I'll be changing Dr.'s.

Arrived 15 minutes early for my appointment and waited in the exam room for 45 minutes. I was frustrated and left the office without seeing the doctor. They charged my insurance company and me a co-pay. No apologies or calls from the doctor.

My wife went to this office for a specific complaint and the Dr. ordered an MRI. When my wife had problems with the MRI process (physical limitations mean she can't be in the tube), we asked for a script for a standing MRI (available within 100 miles). We asked about ten (10) days ago. Still no response as to path forward. All I can attribute this to is a simple lack of caring.

Need a referral for a surgeon. The office assured me it would be sent same day as my appointment. Over a week later, Sportsmed still doesn’t have it. Assured me yesterday they would send “again”. Still not received. I will have to go get myself. The office staff is very lacking. I really liked Dr Kar and his nurse practitioner. But office staff needs to be retrained or get new hires.

Good evening. My grandmother has been a patient of yours since 2016. When we originally saw you after she took a terrible fall, (which resulted in a head injury and a hip replacement) you conducted some tests and then diagnosed her with normal pressure hydrocephalus. At that time you told us that due to her age and multiple other health conditions, she would NOT be a suitable candidate for a shunt placement. You also stated that if she were your OWN MOTHER you would not recommend such an extremely invasive procedure. The past several years have been heartbreaking as we have watched our dear matriarch deteriorate and slowly slip away. We came back to you to voice our new concerns and to potentially recieve an update on the status of her condition. We also wanted to inquire about ANY recommendations you may have had on where we could go from here. (Medication changes, etc) You stated that you didn't remember my grandmother. I can somewhat understand that after not seeing her for a few… years, but you actually had the nerve to ask us WHO diagnosed her with NPH! You then proceeded to tell us that you did not know for sure if she even has NPH! To add insult to injury, you decided that you wanted to schedule her for a shunt placememt. Sir, with all due respect, you diagnosed her with NPH! We didn't just pull that diagnosis out of nowhere like a magician pulling a rabbit out of his hat! Not only that, why all of a sudden is she a good candidate for a shunt placememt?! She is four years older now, and four years worse than she was when you originally saw her and diagnosed this condition, which according to you, may or may not actually be present. Why didn't you review her records/case before her appointment? Do you even have her medical records? Our whole family is extremely upset and we want answers to all of these questions i have just asked. We also want to request copies of all of her medical records. I don't care about whatever cost we may incur from making this request. They are vital to us so that we may seek out an alternative neurologist who is most certainly more qualified, professional, and educated than you seem to be.

After seeing several neurologists, all with conflicting diagnosis, I saw Dr. Karr, a true professional who knows his business. He was very thorough with me, tested me, asked questions no other doctor had asked and gave me a sensible diagnosis.

Dr. Kar is very thorough and excellent doctor. He’s very methodical and logical as he walks through his process to diagnose. And he talks you through and explains each step as you go. I felt nothing would be missed in my time as a patient there because of his process. ALo he treated my condition so well. I have been to so many neurologist with no help. He is the best . Would recommend to go to him if you need best treatment
