Dr. Joanne Lorraine Blum, MD

Dr. Blum is everything I wanted in a doctor, she told me exactly what was to be expected and was straight forward from the start with my prognosis and outcome. She explained procedures, medication, side effects and answered every question with the same straight forwardness and professionalism expected of someone so highly respected in her field. She showed compassion and understanding with a no nonsense attitude that helped me thru the darker times during my treatments and that I appreciated

She was my mother's oncologist since 2008. She and her staff always took the best care of mom and listened to her needs. They treated us with such care it felt as if we were family. I highly recommend Dr Joanne Blum and staff of Texas Oncology.

Very professional. Always has a pleasant demeanor. Makes you feel comfortable talking about your condition and how to cope. Staff is always courteous.

Very smart but too clinical with patients. Had very little if any sympathy or professionalism with my wife while going thru the trama of cancer and chemo treatment. Treated wife aggresively with Taxol for several weeks leading to a lot of severe side affects. While on vacation, her P.A. ordered additional treament with Taxol that led to wife being hospitalized for a week in the hospital at my expense to give her body a chance to recover. They had to immediately discontinue the Taxol treatment plan. Does not listen to patient and minimizes the affects of chemo on the person - physically, mentally and emotionally. Does not like to be challenged by the patient over treatment plan or her decisions, even though the patient has to endure the affects of her decisions. Typically spent over an hour waiting to get in for office visit while other patients (who arrived after us) were called in to see the other doctors. No sympathy, no apology from Doctor when shared with her. Just doesn't… seem to care about patients.

Did not advise effect of medicine when dispensed expected patient to know, or not know, seemingly more interested in matters not pertaining to medical condition. More concerned with personality traits making critical comments.

I highly recommend Dr. Joanne Blum. She is highly regarded for her expertise and knowledge, and for approaching treatment carefully and conservatively. She showed concern and a caring attitude throughout my cancer treatment.

She has the best bedside manner for a cancer patient. She is considerate, thoughtful and kind
