Dr. Joanne Karen Schouten, MD

Dr. Schouten had initially agreed to see my wife (who was contemplating suicide) in 5 days time. 3 days later she decided that she was not a good fit and cancelled. She referred me to two clinics in which the wait time was unknown and potentially unavailable for who knows how long. In this case and under these circumstances I feel that her actions are unprofessional and should be noted.

Dr Schouten has always helped myself and my family many times through the years. She is a good listener, and her advise was always helpful to us. very professional. we will rate her 4 stars

Came up with Diagnoses that were never discussed with me, very confrontational in session, and then years after the therapeutic relationship had been terminated, my ex subpoenaed an OVERVIEW of my treatment history from her to see if he could use anything in our custody case. Imagine my surprise when I was billed for copies made of over 100 pages of detailed session notes that were sent to my ex. I lost significant parenting time with my child as a result of her release of this "overview", which included serious diagnoses that were never explained to me, along with notations I was unwilling to work to resolve the diagnoses (that I knew nothing about!) Further treatment with respected professionals failed to turn up the same diagnoses, but the damage is done. Avoid her at all costs.
