Dr. Job Dorcil, MD

I am a 73 yr. old man, retired from a sedentary research and teaching career. I was 5â??10; shrunk to 5â??8,â?? weighing about 180. I had gradually dropped in exercise to slow, rhythmic bike riding and swimming and Tai Chi. I needed relief from crippling lower back pain I had struggled with for maybe 2 yrs. The pain varied with posture up to lwevel 8. Nothing other than surgery worked. On 3.24.14 I was operated on for laminectomy of lumbar lamina 3,4,5 and spinal fusion of lumbar Vertebrae 4 and 5. The operation was by Dr. Job Dorcil and staff at Bethesda Hospital in Boynton Beach, Florida. So far Iâ??m very pleased. Within a couple hours after waking from this 4 hour, 8 inch, 23 staples incision operation I recognized that the sort of pain I was having had changed from the broad separated areas â??deepâ?? pains to wound pain. Pain was still very high for a while but controlled with medication. Iâ??m up and walking, sometimes with a walker and sometimes without. On this evidence… I would highly recommend consulting Dr. Dorcil for spinal surgery.

Dr. Dorcil saved my life. I had put off back surgery for 7 years. I had been through so many pills, physical therapy and everything you can think of to solve my pain. Nothing worked. The last MRI that I had showed that there was no choice but surgery. I was unable to walk down the street with out my leg going completely numb. I could not feel the pressure on the gas or brake pedal when driving. I was 63 and terrified. Dr. Dorcil told me surgery was the only solution and at that point I agreed. THE BEST DECISION in my life.-I walk, do Hot Yoga, No pain EVER- He saved my life.--He gave me an active life that I always had when I was younger. I could not be more grateful to him and his wonderful staff- mostly Stephanie for being there for all my crazy questions.

Dr. Dorcil was my first opinion. The only reason I went to him was that I was in severe pain and the two doctors that were recommended to me were 2-3 weeks out for an appointment and I was able to get into Dr. Dorcil in 3 days. Dr. Dorcil told me I had a ruptured disc and surgery was the only fix. He said that I can still work out if I can handle the pain but wanted but I couldn't cause any more damage so the choice was mine. I eventually went to my second and third opinion and both doctors had the exact but opposite diagnosis of Dr. Dorcil. They both told me that my condition has a 90% chance of healing itself and I should give it around 2 months before I make any additional decisions. They also both told me to not lift anything heavy, don't workout and let it heal as I can cause more damage by putting pressure on my back. I'm not sure how two doctors (recommended) have such different opinion than the one doctor I pretty much picked from my insurance companies website of… doctors on my plan. The point is as for recommendation from people you trust.

This man is FABULOUS, one of the best, most professional physicians I've ever been associated with. My only disappointment is that he's not an internist so I could use him as my regular doc! If you need an orthopedist/orthopedic surgeon, you MUST see this guy. You'll be very glad you did!
