Jocelyn Campo

Jocelyn is a bilingual board-certified Physician Assistant. She was born in NJ but raised in Greenville, SC. She was born to Colombian parents, making Spanish her native language. Jocelyn received her bachelor's degree in Biology from USC in Columbia, SC and her master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from MUSC in Charleston, SC. In her downtime, she enjoys cooking, trying new foods, spending quality time with family and friends, and traveling. Jocelyn recently got engaged to her high-school sweetheart after 8 years of dating and they are officially tying the knot in October 2023! Non-professional goals include: growing her family in the near future; begin a new hobby to help de-stress; begin meditating; begin practicing mindfulness. Her clinical experience at MUSC allowed her to gain experience in outpatient psychiatry. She gained leadership experience during her time at USC which allowed her to delve into her passion of serving underserved communities as she also advocated …for the importance of diversity inclusion. She did this by hosting several events and volunteering frequently. Her previous background as a CNA and medical scribe also helped expose her to various fields of medicine; however, psychiatry was always a field that sparked her interest. As a CNA, she was able to witness many humbling experiences that made her realize just how undervalued mental health really is. Family is very important in her life and has always served as the fuel to keep her going. As the daughter of migrant parents from Colombia, South America, she learned at an early age the value of hard work as she had seen how much her parents had sacrificed in pursuit of a better life for her and her two sisters. Jocelyn often faced challenges most children didn't have to face such as interpreting at her parents' doctor's appointments. It was then when she truly felt the disconnect between healthcare providers and minority populations especially those who are non-English speaking. She felt it was her duty and due diligence to become the voice her parents did not have; she made sure to promise them that their sacrifices would be worth it. This ultimately inspired her to pursue a career in medicine. Her professional goals as a Psychiatric Physician Assistant are to treat her patients holistically while serving as their healthcare advocate. She also hopes to bridge the gap by continuing to advocate for diversity inclusion and helping her non-English speaking patients feel heard and represented. Client specialty include (but not limited to) ADHD, anxiety, bipolar, and obsessive-compulsive and related disorders. She is excited to welcome her new patients in as she helps them navigate their overall wellness and mental health.
